Hardpoints, Utilities, Internals, and ship's computer

We have hardpoint, utility, optional internal (including armor), core internal (including hull).

We should also have ship's computer that provides slots to equip modules such as sensor interface, targeting interface, docking computer, hyper drive interface, power management interface, life support interface, and so on. Some of the interfaces are required, such as the core OS, drive, power, and life support. Some are optional, such as the docking computer, sensor, targeting, etc. We should be able to choose different grades for these interfaces for different functionality and quality.

Putting things like the docking computer, which basically uses the ship's sensors, throttle, and telemetry from the station, into the ship's computer makes sense, and frees up space for an internal. I wish I could say the discovery and surface scanner should go into the ship's computer, but they need a physical component to do the scanning.

What do you guys think?

This has been asked repeatedly for years, since it is to have docking computer take the space of 2 tons of cargo, when a 20th century smart-phone has enough computing power to land the ship.

I'm all for more things that make sense!

With a very limited view cone, because turning a 2000 ton warship to scan something is good gameplay ;)

haha

Or, can you tell me why the radar does not tell me where the landing pad is?
Like, I am in a 2000 ton ship with 30 meter steel below me and a huge nose, and not even a camera to see what is going below me, at least show me where is the landing pad is on the radar as a dot, so I can match and align to.

It does show you. On the compass thingy, to the left of your radar.

I do concur here.. this would possibly be a great way to handle a number of problem areas.
Limpet controllers come to mind as well, especially since we now have so many different kinds.

Lots of possibilities here.
