Doesn't tell us anything because the picture you use in OP consists of several data points while the picture in this post only consists of two data points and a flattened curve. You better stop posting nonsense or learn to interpret the incomplete data you are providing.

Honestly dsteve, I don't know what you expected from this place. It's the same 10 names always saying things are great and things are fine.

You are right that it's hard to tell what the activity level really is and steam doesn't give a full image. Neither does this data I put out a couple of days ago:

Patch 3.0.3 was announced at 11:10am on the 19/03/18 and 12 hours later the thread had 576 responses.
Patch 3.0.4 was announced at 3.33pm on the 26/03/18 and 12 hours later the thread had 242 responses.

But there is a definite feel of interest dropping in game, in myself and around here. As I stated in another thread, players tend to leave with a fizzle rather than a bang. The bang is normally one last desperate attempt to get whatever the problem they perceive fixed before they give in entirely. I think the community has had a recent collective bang and now we are witnessing the fizzle. FDev should be far more concerned by this than the bang and shouldn't for a second think that people have just reached a contented state with their product.

Nice 3 year period spread the OP chose! All that tells me is that the game is, after 3 years, still very active. good news I'd say!

Let me pick another period, one where it starts low and ends high for an even better prognosis :D

Yeah if you look at the full available stats the player base is pretty stable and possibly showing a long term rising trend.
