The Current Direction of Elite Dangerous is....

DOWN!!! according to the Steam charts...

Maybe the FDev's will start listening to their playerbase, and stop listening to the 500 or so 'Fanboys' who log in everyday and blow smoke up their rear-ends saying 'everything is great'.

Oh ye - and FDevs - if you need some advice, or pointing in the right direction.. just open a single thread on the first page of your forums, and read it (i.e. that means listening to what the players are actually saying about your game). Implement those changes - and BAM!! Elite starts being the game that everyone hopes it might be someday.

FD only listen to the 500 or so fanboys who log into the forum everyday to say everything is great.
But they should look at any thread on the first page of said forums to see how they should develop the game.

... right.

Make up your mind, OP, are the forums full of rabid fanboys, or are they full of wisdom? There's no room for both in your polarised world.

500 fanboys is a gross overestimate. Based off of what I've heard from players in game, most of the people who currently play recognize the game's issues. Its just the dozen or so fanboys on the forums who reply to every thread that skews the perception of how many players are content with the games current state.

Also as one of that white knight that hugely extrapolates our influence on what FD decides or thinks about feedback.

... is a good one.

Stream charts are only significant when they go up around here ;)

But yeah. There is attrition due to persistant and unadressed game issues. Well at least with the people I game with. YMMV.

IMO the true reckoning will come past the Q4 update once we'll have a full picture of beyond.

I'm sure devs are very aware of the tight turn they'll have to pull off wrt to placeholders. So far I'm quite confident that they can pull it off.

Despite its understandable limits, I really enjoy this game, hence I don't feel the need of making lots of threads about it. But if someone doesn't like it, keeping posting rants full of non-sequiturs and childish insults at those that do, claiming that your vision of what this game should be is the superior one - while being oblivious to the caveats and challenges of running an MMOG - will definitely get you this sort of dismissive replies.

I really don't understand the drive to attack or mock people that do or do not enjoy the game. I really don't get the "game is crap and I don't play anymore but love posting on the forums."

Number of threads started on one opinion or another is, statistically speaking, not a good measure of any thing other than number of threads on a subject (though one could attempt to classify each thread and get some more useful information from the data about forum activity).

Regarding the health or success of the game, there are really only two primary measures of these, which are hours per account and sales. There are others of course, but those will generally roll up to these two main measures.

Either you enjoy the game, or you don't.

Maybe if serious and level headed feedback didn't get a a bunch of dismissive and childish replies from the same 10 people you would see less threads where the op preemptively gave them the middle finger.

Thanks, I needed some new toilet paper. This Steam Chart will work perfectly. Only thing it's really good for anyways.

Here's a handy holder for that:

There's enough players on Steam to make its trend graphs a valid statistic. You guys aren't doing anybody favors by pretending they're not.

The fact that Frontier has dedicated an entire year to focus on gameplay elements I think shows that they also realize there's issues with the core of the game that needs to be revisited and improved. So can we stop with the "if you don't like it, play something else" mentality. Encouraging the reduction of the player base won't help anyone.

I feel bad now :( See, I don't play Elite through steam and I know I am not the only one. So every time someone trots out steam player stats I feel a little sorry for them because they are basing their rants on a subset of the players.

So your argument would be that 7.5 - 12.5 thousand players is an insufficient sample size to accurately represent trend?

Didn't this game die in 2014, 2015, couple times through 2016, atleast once, I'm pretty sure twice, through 2017, and allready in 2018 I believe d00m has been imminent a handfull of times

I'm fairly certain the game will survive Easter (althoguh one can't be too sure, obviously)

No, it's saying that Steam users and non-Steam users are different demographics with different behaviours.

It's like using a pork sales chart from the Middle-East and extrapolating a global trend in the consumption of bacon sandwiches.

When they've opened the thread and read it...which side of the argument do you suggest they listen too...its usually a fairly even spread between those that want the Game to be made easier and those that are happy with progress (money/mats/ranks) as it is...or even think it should go back to what it was under earlier release versions????

Oh...of Course they should Listen to YOUR side of the argument...silly me!
