No day and night cycles? Whaaaaat?

Really?

I just heard this while watching TheGamingBeavers video. The guy with him said that each Island has different lighting.

Also I really hope there is a free mode/sandbox mode where we can just build a park. So far from what I have seen in the video the game looks amazing. But is a bit too structured. I mean that's fine if that's what you want. But I hope that isn't the only option in the game.

I have problem with the goal oriented play, it seems fun. But I like to mess around in my games, especially games like this. It's what I do in Planet Coaster.

Also it's shame that the Dinosaurs can't attack the ranger vehicle, by that I mean the carnivores like the Rex.

Otherwise everything seems great.

Not sure about all the things you're referring to since we've all seen different clips at this point.

I'm glad there are no night cycles, just wasted time where it is harder to see everything that looks so amazing.

I think the game looks structured in the ways I don't feel like managing, and completely free in the ways I do. Also note that this gameplay is of the opening tutorial, which teaches you how to play. It will be a lot less structured as it goes on.

In the original island description it says that it comes pre-built with core infrastructure already before you start so I think we’ll see a lot more flexibility on some of the other islands. Keep in mind that the first island is more of a tutorial, and things ramp up from there.

Yeah well I want my Dinosaurs to be able to frolic in the moon light.

It's hard to think after coming from Planet Coaster where we have day and night cycles and control over the lighting where we can make it look like day or night to this game that has no day or nights cycles. Maybe they can make it an option. The best thing about these games is the freedom the offer over other games that lack it.

Yeah to be honest, I hate day/night cycles in builder games. I tried to enable it in Cities: Skylines, recently. First I usually just fast-forwarded through the nights, then disabled them entirely. Nice it may be to watch the night life, car lights and enjoy the general atmosphere, it's useless and annoying from gameplay perspective. So I won't cry if it won't be in JWE.

I don't. I really hope they change it and make it an option. A good bit of the movie (the T-Rex escape scene) and the book happens at night.

Well, some of the screen caps I've seen look awfully like a sunset, so.. maybe you're going to be lucky.

I heard that some of the islands will have different lighting. It was said to make each one look different. I don't think giving us Islands in perpetual daytime and night time is a very good idea. I would much rather have the day and night cycle you see in Planet Coaster. I believe even JPOG had day and night cycles.

I get the not adding a night cycle to the game, but if I remember correctly, they said that one of the islands is ALWAYS dark. Which doens’t sound like a good idea to me.

Which is why PC gives you the option to set the lighting you like. You can set the lighting for any time of the day you like. This game should be the same.

They should consider adding a day/night cycle as an option. I think it would improve the game and give it some realism. Imagine having some raptors breaking out at night. How cool would that be?

Just imagine the possibilities. Night vision devices for the ACU rangers. Seeing a Raptor or T-Rex at night using night vision. Their eyes glowing in the dark. this game needs a day and night cycle. Raptor breakouts at night would be a thrill. Maybe even thermal imaging when they hide in the jungle at night.

Haven't you guys watched the new trailer? I'm not sure but doesn't the last shot with the t.rex having dinner looks like dawn or something IMO ;)

Yeah I saw that and it looked great. The issue is that not all the islands will have a day and night cycle. From what I heard the way they are making the islands different is by making them have different lighting. So one island will always be day light, one will always be night and so on. You get the picture. I would prefer a straight up day and night cycle.

Here's an image for those who aren't fond of the day/night cycle...

... It's dark.

... It's raining.

... Thunder.

... Lightning.

... You're focused on the far side of your park; getting that lovely Triceratops enclosure built.

... A message flashes at the top of the screen: "We have an asset out of containment!"

... You check which one it is..

... Oh, Sagax Monstrum Rex.

... It's your hybrid. Your very own, gene-spliced hybrid... she's a monster.. a veritable indominus ... larger, faster, smarter than the rex than came before her..

... And your park is full of people ...

Apparently, the islands will have a perpetual night, dusk, or dawn setting. Which...I have no idea why they chose that system...

That is by far an away my least favourite design choice.

It just doesn't make sense why they chose it! Just make them geographically different. Obviously they have to be somewhat similar and we shouldn't expect one island to be a desert, the other an arctic island etc; but just look at the different vegetation shown in JP (tropical), TLW (an eclectic mix of tropical and North American) and JP3 (primeval forest). That's just in two islands!

We don't need the islands to be in different day times to differentiate them!
