I just had a fantastic idea for a game

You're the founder of a software company which wants to develop three software titles, a space game, a dinosaur game and a theme park game.

No, hear me out...

Depending on your skill, you can chose to develop just one title or all three simultaneously.

Its quite involved. Once your game is ready, you must then do research, marketing and distribute your games. Success brings its own rewards and challenges. You'll need to move into bigger premises and hire more software developers, accountants, marketing people etc...

Here's the best bit, these games include the option to view various forums where customers can leave comments based on their experiences. This allows you to monitor and fix any problems that may arise. Recruit moderators to take down obscene content and resolve issues. Negative and positive feedback affect your reputation. It would be a real challenge to juggle all these things simultaneously while trying your best to keep everyone happy.

So, what you guys think ?

That's a very thinly veiled attempt to say that Frontier are incompetent and can't balance their priorities.

I especially love the 'forums' part. There should be a lot of whining going on to simulate real life.

No, it was in praise of Frontier and the difficult job they face. I see guests walking about my Planet Coaster creation, complaining that this or that is broken with me trying my best to keep things running smoothly.
I often think about Frontier as having their own game to play, one that is not too dissimilar to their fictional theme park.

It does look enjoyable! Might have to check it out.

In that case, I apologise for misunderstanding your intent.

I like your game idea however I've got a much better game idea in which you have a game idea and tell people about your game idea and they give you money so you make virtual assets for your game idea and they give you more money, but it isn't pay2win because they can't "win" anything and you just make self-congratulatory videos about your game idea for years. YEARS.

There will also be "er it's an alpha" dlc in which you can pre-release alpha concept builds and avoid all consumer criticism under the excuse of "er it's an Alpha" look out for the pre-alpha soon available for all backers..backers..

I call my game "my great game idea coming soon(tm)" and I'll be making some self-congratulotory videos about all of the gaming concepts soon followed by ways to give me money in advance of my game idea about having game ideas but not really delivering them.

Look out for the early access pre-release alpha coming soon and don't forget to post links under "knowing" comments about how Frontier could learn from me in advance of me ever delivering anything.

So yeah.

I'll only buy it if crazed nerds lay siege to your offices furious about really trivial stuff, and you can set the dogs on them.

:D Sounds like the new Rollercoaster Tycoon email updates I used to get. That went on for almost 2 years. I lost interest in the end. I have no idea if it ever came out.

Coding it in as I speak. :)

I think FD are going about it in a clever way. They have a lot of experience with theme part games, so this is a natural extension of it.

Plus it allows them to work on tech that one day might find its way into ED.

PC gives them base building and NPC crowd movements, which might be good for the future of ED in terms of base building and proc gen cities with NPCs walking around.

JWE gives them more experience with the creation and animation of realsitic creatures, which of course comes into play for Braben's vision of getting out of his ship and going dinosaur hunting on planets in ED.

Basically build up in house experience and skills in order to bring those things back into your dream project.

Now, if we were to compare that with another company, who with no company experience developing anything, just disparate devs with a varity of experience, and promising to deliver everything to maximum and better than any other game before.... well...

Procedurally generated boiling oil, mantraps and a really aggressive Liverpudlian tea-lady ?.

:D haha, The really aggressive Liverpudlian tea-lady, almost done, does she have weapons at her disposal or just headbutting ?

Have crazed nerds ever laid siege to their offices, has that happened ?

No, not yet anyway.

I think the closest was the lad mad with NMS who said he'd go round there with a rifle when they announced a delay.

Jenner

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Recruit moderators to take down obscene content and resolve issues.

Check their professionalism and competency stats beforehand. Learn from Frontier's fail. :p

Seriously I see no problem with Frontier developing multiple titles. They are a good sized company and have lots of talent across the spectrum.
