I really hope it isn't just a monorail. I'd love to build a big dock and see ships bringing guests to the island
I was thinking the same thing. Even a small airport to bring guests in by small plane.
In an ideal world, the monorail should only be OPTIONAL as a way to transport guests or give them tours. Guests should arive via ferry or helicopter, and the play should be able to CHOOSE if they want to build ports or helicopter pads and be able to place them WHEREVER they want.

Yeah guests arriving just by a random monorail that we can't even lay down ourselves sucks.
I had plans to do a monorail leaving from the docks which headed through the JP gates then suddenly appearing over a valley filled with sauropods and hadrosaurs as a sort of "wow!" moment for the guests before arriving at the visitors center.
Since we can't build our own monorails that isn't going to happen.

Where was it said we can't build our own monorails? In the menu you can build a monorail station, and in the other gameplay trailers they show some fairly random monorail placements so I'm pretty sure we can. It's only the first island that has a fixed monorail because its a tutorial island and they don't want to overwhelm players.
BestInSlot confirmed it in an AMA last night I think.
Monorails are already in place and can only add stations.
Its needs to be like this! I wish the developer are reading this! Very detail and complicated!
