Sandbox mode

Has this been confirmed?
I know It's been hinted at as far as I am aware, it's pretty much the only thing I am waiting for before I preorder.

It won't be in the game at the start.
Michael Brookes said that in the base game they made a choice to focus on a narrative. But he also said that they are aware of the massive popularity of sandbox and they will look into it, later.

Who bought this game for the narrative? haha. Not an attack on anyone, but I'm pretty sure the majority of people who buy these games do so for the creativity.

Planet Coaster is way more oriented on creativity than JWE from what we've seen. So it makes sense to focus on the narrative and balancing of the progression you'll have from the start to the unlock of the mythical (mystical too) Isla Nublar.

I'm not sure if the movie is to be watched before or after starting a JWE game though.

As long as Sandbox is included at some point I'll be happy. You can tell from the previews they've put a lot of effort into progression and story so it's not an afterthought and there will be a lot of people who wouldn't normally buy park building games just for that aspect alone. I imagine advertising it as a Jurassic World game generates a particular expectation among audiences, and there could be a possibility, if there were to be no story, that players unfamiliar with this genre would end up staring at a blank terrain wondering what the hell to do and how to find the dinos.

Judging by the first JW and how sequels usually go about things, these days, I'm not sure the film is to be watched at all. :D

To me "narrative missions" in builder games are like tutorials to introduce more and more gameplay mechanics and features. I may or may not play these missions. The sandbox is the true game of builder. But not a sandbox without money or research restriction. It is also managing resources to me.

I’m calling it now, every island you 5 star, you unlock a sandbox mode for it. Start with nothing on it and go wild.

In my theory you can progress by getting 3 stars on each island. If you want to unlock Nublar you need 5 star ratings on each island which as BestInSlot said is a lot of work. It sounds fun an challenging. Not just some game that you will play once and throw away or uninstall and forget about. So once you unlock Nublar you will have to play the original 1993 JP and get a 5 star rating on that. Once you do that it will unlock Nublar as the sandbox mode. It will also unlock Sorna as the site B mode.

The games seems to be very similar to JPOG. Enough that I can't imagine they would ignore a Site B mode. Sorna is in the game and that is the actual Site B in the movies.

Also as Ace2535 has said getting a 5 star rating on each park will make it a sandbox mode. This is a good idea. Though I am sure people will spend more time on the more spacious islands with bigger play areas. I do think playing on the smaller islands will add some fun challenge involving space management. How to get the most out of the space you have.

Of course I could be horribly wrong and our wallets will get hit hard with DLC. Which I will gladly pay for.

I really hope there is a sandbox, personally I always skip the story/challenge modes in management type games and get straight into the sandbox mode where I have immediate access to all the features of the game. I'm kind of impatient, I guess [noob]

The devs have already stated that this game will have a narrative, however you have the freedom to follow the missions or not, but if you don't follow the missions you will be missing out on content that can only be unlocked through the mission narrative.

On the subject of a sandbox mode I hope that they will make Isla Sorna (Site B) the sandbox island, if not I can see them using this island for the research department missions. As the island was orginally used by InGen as its research station where they grew the dinosaurs before transferring them over to Isla Nublar.

However Isla Nublar can easily be used for a sandbox mode now that Jurassic World went wrong.

Wait, they've confirmed there's no sandbox?

That's a huge disappointed. Sure, I like the story missions. But I also like to choose a map, set an amount of cash and just focus on creating a park without someone telling me what to do.

Yup but they also said that if the community really wants a sandbox mode that they could implement it with a patch.

No devs have confirmed it. But they are being very secretive about Nublar and I suspect Nublar and Sorna will be the sandbox modes. Once you five star Nublar it opens up as a sand box with the rest of the maps. Though I suspect most people will want to play sand box on the largest maps. I also suspect Sorna will be some kind of Dino free roam.

As I have said many many times; I very much hope you are right!

Where have they said that? To my knowledge they have neither confirmed or denied it. The LA show was literally just showing the story.

We still haven't heard about Nublar.
Thought that they said something in the video (New Details On Jurassic World Evolution From Its Developers) from Game Informer but I just rewatched it and mis understand it I think (min5). I thought Michael said "we're looking at it".
