Guess I'm Done?

The way you know for sure someone quit for real is that you don't know they quit. People who get tired of the game just walk away from it, slowly. It moves to the back burner and goes away without fanfare. That's how it is with most games anyhow. When you announce your departure, you probably booked a return flight.

I never understood the unistall thing

I think with some people its a demonstration thing. "This game is so bad that i have to unistall it!". For some people though i think its because they install their most played games to a SSD so space can be a premium. My SSD has only room for a few games, but one is GTA, which takes an insane amount of room. Haven't played it for ages though. What i could do though is move the files to another disk and move another game onto it. Steam even has a feature to move games to other locations and retain a working installation.

But yeah, no point uninstalling unless you really know you will never play a game again unless you really need that space.

Nice to let us know...and happy trails camper...but is "Played game a long time...going to play something else for a change...maybe pick this up again after the next big update..." worthy of a forum thread...if everyone that did that posted here...there'd be no space for other threads!

Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that this is a game that really requires regular breaks - unless you are the kind of time-rich player with not much else to do & play it as an alternate life (which explains why they don't mind the grind) - because despite the beauty & great flight model (bar reverski of course) it is inherently inert in many ways. This game should be much better after 3 'full release' years.

I've just returned from a 5 month break myself...but I have to say, I'm really enjoying playing again. PvP has been fun but I'm a bit rusty & my T16000 stick has developed a permanent serious drift on the RZ axis which causes all sorts of issues in FAOFF & general fixed weapon aiming.

Elite is still the best in its genre - I have a SC package but I only dip in to it for a buggy laugh since I usually check out BoredGamer's vids to see how things are 'progressing'.

Come on you reds - YNWA [big grin]

I get bored.. I leave... then I come back.. Happened many times.

I've never made a thread on this forum to tell the world that I was leaving.

I don’t consider myself to have quit.
My character is just living in luxury aboard his cutter, in orbit above the Imperial capital.
Doing menial jobs and ferrying people around is for poor people.

More like a boredom quit.
I login, find nothing to do, and leave. Might as well force myself to wait a while.

If you've done all those things you mentioned in the OP, it makes sense to quite. ED is just a game, you had a bunch of fun with it, time to do to other stuff. Maybe cool stuff gets added later, if so you can always take a look at it.

Uninstalled, Left some groups, moving on from Elite... At least for a while.
No, you can't have my stuff (only because it isn't a feature lol).

I've really run out of things to do. The worst thing I did in game was buy and engineer a Cutter. Once you reach the end of the line, there's not much else to do.
I've been to The Center, I've discovered ELW's, I've fought pirates for hours, I've smuggled slaves, I did the pre-3.0 rank grind, I explored Thargoid and Guardian ruins, I've cleared my save twice for kicks, and I fought Ed in a CQC livestream. I even survived CG's to buy an Anaconda in 5 months.
I haven't gone to Beagle Point because I refused to watch that many episodes of Star Trek lol.
I also never combat logged, never used "credit exploits", or "griefed".

So yeah, I think I've earned a break. I'll probably redownload the game later on and do a fresh start.
See you in a few months (years?), I guess?

Wow!

Sounds like you got your money's worth!

No game can keep any gamer busy forever, and who would only want to play a single game their entire life?

Go out and find something new to play and have fun! And when this fall's new content pops out, swing by to say hi and check it out!

Best of luck CMDR!

I can't count the number of times I've taken a break from the game only to return weeks/months later. If it's not fun right now, then stopping for a while is a sensible thing to do. You may pick it back up someday, or maybe not - as long as you're happy it doesn't matter which.

So true!

You and me both Commander, I`v recently took my Conda to Colonia and then to the Centre and realized, that there is no way I`m jumping back, (waiting till they add some sort of autopilot lol) also no reason to because there is nothing left to do. Also taking a brake at this point.

You could always just self-destruct? A few in game credits might not be worth your time to fly back?

I took a month-long break. Then I played for a few days, visited the guardian ruins, got myself some guardian weapons. I'll likely take another break until something new catches my eye. Nothing wrong with that.

I think anyone who plays the game should feel free to post whatever's on their mind... so yeah, it's worthy

as an aside I was so bored last night I turned the television off when I went to bed (if any ones interested :) )

Same here. I've been playing Kingdoms and Castles for a while. Great fun, if not imbued with longevity.

I sometimes get bored with ED and frustrated with how it could be so much more with the right "director" at the helm. And there are the bugs.... So sometimes I need a break, too. But this game has given me so many hours of enjoyment that I have to step back and admit that this game has been worth every penny I spent on it and more, even if I were to stop playing today and never come back.

Don't worry, however, because

Same here, get bored take a break come back get board take a longer break, point is now the breaks are getting longer each time with no desire to play, as the same bugs and issues keep coming back in one form or another, in short the game is not meeting the hype that it was build up to be.

I think I'm at the same point. 20 weeks of play and I'm done. Not a bad run at all and amazing value to boot. But I've had enough of the broken gameplay, bugs and overly complicated Crime & Punishment changes where they seem to have taken the fun and profitability out of the game.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

& Why the need to tell us all about it? (same reason I guess)

The only time i've done an "I quit" thread it wasn't even negative. Still enjoyed the game, but i'd burnt out devving for it and lost my will to play... and ED had come along :)

frustrated with how it could be so much more with the right "director" at the helm.

And that director should be me! And oh boy, i can imagine some of the I quit threads if i was in charge :D
