We're in Q2 right ?

As one other person said they will also have a paid for content release this year as well. My guess (and also my hope) would be 4th quarter to co-inside with the improvements to planet surfaces, so the expansion could be earth like worlds being able to be landed on. Would make sense improve the ground textures and add in earth like worlds (maybe without animal life) as start and build from there next year.
.
As I said it is a guess and a hope. as for the lease of 2nd free update, it is suppose to be a small release so could be anything, and could be at the very end of the 2nd quarter. I am looking forward to the quarter 4 release the next 2 are just a bonus waiting to happen and of course the paid release (alpha backer so it is free for me).

FWIW I wouldn't expect Earth-likes planets for a good while longer. I'd imagine gas giants would be first on the list, then atmospheric planets (but not earth-likes) then water worlds. But then im often wrong :)

So Fdevs, any news about that juicy Krait that should be coming soon ? :D

A new ship for ED is the least of my concerns.
Don't get me wrong... the Krait appears to be a very cool addition to the ED menagerie, but I am infinitely more interested in what they intend to do gameplay-wise for chapter 2.

I am flawed blabber mouth :) But in this case this is what I seen or heard. Does not mean I am right, but I am really doubtful about end of June release.

Perhaps the day before the end of June?

If it is really Q2 release, then beta has to come mid May latest, considering June is vacation month for FD lads and girls. So we will start to hear about Q2 release soon enough.

That is extremely optimistic. I think FDev have still a lot of tuning and bug squashing to do for Chapter 1.

Then don't fly any if you don't enjoy it or have no reason to. I play in VR and get enjoyment (which is enough reason for me) even when piloting out the station. I don't need a story to give me enjoyment.

Have some rep for the best reply I have seen in MONTHS! and it echoes my sentiments to the moany posts that plague the forum.

If you don't like it, don't play it! I do not have VR but I still get enjoyment playing the game and so I will continue to do so.
What story? I just bumble around space doing stuff cos its there

Q2 ends on June the 30th.

And I`m not even sure they have ever said its a q2 update

If i remember correctly, their (awfully uninformative) roadmap graphic showed one q1 "release" followed by two smaller "content updates" with no time estimates given at all and then another q4 "release".

this,
krait was between Q1 and Q4. nothing else was said,
aside from "multiple alliance ships"
so i am not only waiting for the krait, which is an independant ship, but also for several other alliance ships, and a whole bunch of guardian modules that have already been named, but not released yet.

Are they though, I would like your source on that. The massive survey that was done suggested that most people wanted to go exploring.

Wish I have said it differently :) While I know some surveys have pointed out exploration as most favourite thing for players, I will say that combat is what makes world to go around and what is exciting for considerable amount of active players. I have no evidence for that of course.

Them's fightin' words!

Yeah, I am curious why navigator got cut from MC.

It got axed because Frontier couldn’t find a way to make it useful for combat players!

On a less pessimistic note, they probably spent the majority of their time on the combat mechanics and ran out of time to do the “less important” stuff like the navigator and engineer seats. I mean that’s still pessimistic to a non-combat player, but I do believe Frontier intended to release a fully fleshed out multicrew feature, they just failed horribly at doing it.

Also, since they’ve spent so much development time on combat since 1.0 it was really the only aspect of the game with enough meat on the bones for multicrew to take advantage of. The non-combat aspects are still so bare bones that honestly they just don’t have enough mechanics or functionality to give crews anything to do. That might have factored into their intent for Beyond to improve the games core. While working on multicrew the devs might have finally realized just how lacking the rest of the game actually is.

Either way, I was looking very forward to that navigator/engineer seat in MC, and I’m sad it didn’t happen.

True. Content seems to be scripted Thargoid mystery that we read about but don’t really feel involved in the outcome. I think we need a player vs player great powers war. One where The outcome is player determined. Like the great imperial Slavery affirmation hahahaha da Gamererz have spoken and it’s reactionary sludge

I’ll see myself out

well... they have also said that during the course of horizons we will have "multiple SRV`s" with different roles and that ended with exactly one SRV

Unless it`s something that is said right before release, when they have it already done and almost ready, I see FD`s statements as naive wishful thinking at best and straight false advertising at worst, David especially is an offender here, he just can`t stop over promising

and despite the fact that I always apply "minimum viable product - 30% = what we will actually get" sort of expectations to FD`s releases, I`m still usually disappointed because they most often deliver even less because their vision of MVP is still below mine, which was already below their initial advertisements

TLDR; In other words: my stance towards FD is: "I`ll believe it when i see it + 3 months probation period to see if your next patch won`t break it like the beige planets etc." and i advise others to act in a similar fashion

You can't see yourself out, you don't have legs :D

I sat in the shipyard looking at the spec of the Chieftain, my thought was....

"Why the f would I do with THAT ship?"......I then left the station, saving my credits.

My opinion is when the Krait is launched, it'll be deja vu!

Thats because theres nothing else other than combat in this game.

We dont have any exploration, mining, smuggling mechanics. After more than 3 years we have 1 feature added to trading so we dont have the need to go to a website to play the game.

Thats the problem with dvelopers, they are afraid or incopetent to develop a complex and involving non combat gameplay.

Possibly because it is a combat-oriented ship. The Krait, however, appears to have a cockpit that looks downwards ........
