We're in Q2 right ?

I know well

Q2 was my thought about additional paid content

:)

Not expecting paid content in Q2. That'll require the attention of the Sales & Marketing team, and they'll be fully occupied, I would think, with the launch of Jurassic World Evolution until well into Q3.

i expect any "reveal" to happen somewhere on PAX livestream.
probably krait and whatever paid content upgrade.

dunno if they plan to go to the gamescom this year, or do another in-house event to talk about squadrons and whatever low effort guild system they have planned for Q4
don't expect something big, as the focus will be on JWE wherever they go.

Different teams. Been said by the devs like a hundred times. So you think while they other JWE team are working away the ED team just sit there doing nothing? Maybe the have a computer share system when one is working the other team can't.

i didn'T say that the JWE takes away from development... im talking about what is advertised, talked about - size of the booth at games conventions.
of course the FOCUS will be on the NEW product of the company, not the old ones.

i think you are bending the truth here a little juniper mate.... i dont remember anyone losing their shizz that beyond was being given away for free.... more concern that with horizons being extended to 3 years and with no sign of a "major" paid DLC some folk were worried that they had bought a dud in the LTP.
Me personally i was not bothered about the cash.... but i was concerned that with beyond being free it would essentially limit how much effort would be put into it****... i was hoping for a bit of a teaser for the next major expansion to go with it. if you were not bothered then that is all well and good but please dont re-write history...... mild concern from folk is not mass hysteria ;)

**** I am not saying this is how Beyond is panning out. That is a thought for each individual.

Hey Mike. 😆.
I think they thought they better try to fix some things before saying another paid expansion comes out since theres quite a few things that aren't working correctly from horizons. Lol.
For example since last update i cant leave planetary rings. Fsd just bugs out and has never ending engage animation. So I'm stuck there till they get to my ticket. The story is in another thread lol.

What I get from the Krait is the description:

remains a heavily armed fighter for its size, but its sluggish speed and sub-standard manoeuvrability make it vulnerable to escort fighters and modern police ships. Kraits are still found in the poorer and more anarchic parts of the galaxy - most are a hodgepodge of old and new technology cobbled together. In combat, the Krait is often paired off against larger ships, such as the Cobra and Asp, who match the tiny ship in manoeuvrability, but who remain vulnerable to the Krait's impressive weaponry.

Sounds like an old classic, similar size to the eagle? Mentions larger ships like Cobra / ASP. Which would mean it's smaller, and the only ones typically smaller to Cobra are Vipers / Eagles / Sideys.... but confusingly, it looks much much bigger in the pics :D

PS: not confidence inspiring when referred to as a 'hodgepodge' lol - sounds very millennium falcon...

What we need is cutting edge, state of the art ships with new improved wormhole-hyperdrive hybrid tech, master pieces of engineering.

Where's Richard Branson when you need him? :D

From what we've seen during the Expo the new Krait is a lot different from the original one.
It's a lot bigger, probably holds an slf bay and carries at least three crew.
Imho I think we can't compare the old and new Krait.

We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out and hope for the best.
It definitely looks cool though, actually I was looking more forward to the Krait then the Chieftain.

I thought the Krait was supposed to have an SLF bay? [blah]

There is an SLF bay depicted in the sneak-peak video shown during the expo:

Using that bay as a reference (they are universal/standardised after all), the Krait is at least as big, if not slightly larger than the python. I would go as far as to say, due to it's clearly visible triple Crew capacity, it's probably a large ship. Though I certainly hope not, as another medium SLF-capable ship to compete with the Federal Dropship and Keelback would be great IMHO.

EDIT: Looks like the Krait is indeed a medium sized ship when you actually do the maths.
Still think it'll have those three multi-crew seats though. Will be interesting to see what those are intended for...

youre interpretation may be off by a factor of 1.5 or 2
what you see is around the size of an ASP E, and i wouldn't bet on three seats either, as the chieftain concept had 3 too. seems to be a default procedure for the design team to just slap in the current maximum.
there was also another wireframe shot visible during the presentation, showing it just slightly bigger then a cobra - but that was probably another concept stage that had no slf bay.

Combat is most actively played part of the game and it weaves into other parts of the game. So it is biggest benefit from dev hours FD can put into game.

People say they want non-combat things - issue is they are minority. Considerable one. Having combat thingies and pew pew pew sells game.

LOL Pure speculation on your part. Combat could be the least played part for all we know. And remember: Elite is a space trading game with combat; it was never a combat space game with trading, etc.

I'd agree that combat players are the loudest and most vocal. But that has zero to do with popularity to other gameplay styles.

I'll admit, you're probably right about the size being a bit smaller, as it looks to be about 65-70m in length when you do the math (assuming a SLF bay is about 18x18m, though it could be 20x20m). A bit hard to tell the ships dimensions due the perspective though. (Python is about 88m, Asp X is 57m for reference).

As for the three seats, I disagree there. For the chieftain we were shown 2D concept art of the cockpit depicting those three seats. The Krait is a 3D model. If Frontier were to model the Krait with 3 seats, then revert to a single seat, that would be really weird at such a stage. Kind of defeats the purpose of concept art, but it happens.

Ed in recent Lave Radio interview prior 3.0 launch was very, very careful to say anything about 'premium' content. Hearing all info I am leaning towards it being nothing huge. That said, I rather hear FD finally coming out and laying down paid for DLC plans for next years instead of 'something' for us lifetime pass owners. Clarity about future of ED is something everybody could enjoy.

You've been here long enough to know that Frontier prefer to mushroom us. I'm not expecting any "premium" content to keep us LTP owners quiet, at best I expect nothing more than a couple of skins.

Regarding the Q2 and Q3 drops, they've already said they're going to be small, so I think it'll be more stuff like the Guardian modules, which they probably won't beta test if they don't see the need to.

plus with all the issues there have been with 3.x, I expect there will be somewhat of a delay as their developer resource may well have had to be re-focused...

Maybe this has already been said, but the tweaks and fixes in 3.0 are primarily design changes and QA stuff. That is not the same team that releases new content.
The sound, art, and animation teams would have nothing to do with those fixes.

From my understanding, Q2 and Q3 updates are more focused on new content, but not new features. So it would be new Assets and Scenarios, and less programming and design.

My point is, there should be no development re-focus. There is no excuse that the Q2 update won't release on schedule.
