One would think FDev doesn't need as much revenue from selling cosmetics since the Chinese bought a significant stake in Frontier last year.
I think they'd rather have a dollar in their pocket than on the table.

I've never brought up CIG or SC.. There is a thread for that elsewhere..

...It's time to sell Elite: Dangerous to someone who can properly develop it.
Enough! Enough of this rank, recidivist, recalcitrance! This sacrilege! Oh ye of little faith, Who would even deign to look upon the face of Breadbins? Can thoust see-eth the very custard impinging the motion of thine ship? Likewise, does thoust not feel His presence in every RNG roll, in every boom 'unique & irreplaceable biowaste' mission? Surely the only thing keeping the servers up and running is His divine will, and thus by his omnipotent benevolence will we abide, and uphold the sacred ritual of devotedly tweaking a klunky great HOTAS up-a-bit, left-a-bit, steadfast in the certain knowledge that this is, against all protests of our feable worldy minds, "fun", if one so refined in purity as to suck the very soul from a brick, ever remembering that all this is but mere distraction from the celestial serenity that will cascade over us once we get spacelegs and atmospheric landings, with all sparkly procedurally-generated robo-critters and theme parks and everything! Collect tribbles to win RNG-weighted custard-thinning hull coatings! Forget all woes and cast your minds to meditations of how anything at all in ED could remotely be described as "recapturing the immediacy of the previous games", and accept the paradox, for surely, is this not superlative irony by His omnificent design? What more perfect proof of His illimitable presence could we seek, but the interminable snafus of PowerPlay or RNGineering? FD are making the game they want to make, yea, the Breadbins work in mysterious ways, and forgive us our loitering fines, getgud.
As much as I give this game crap over certain elements.
I dont think Braben has lost interest at all. Not by a long shot. This is their baby.
Its still a great game.
I understand the frustrations. But I simply dont think this is the case.

I feel like agreeing with you 90's, it has to be some sort of a trap.
Considering David is meant to be the 'Game Director', how come we never hear from him anymore?
Just wondering whats going on?
Okay, can someone tell me what it is precisely ?
Can we see some detail?
Hey man, I love this game. Maybe thats why were so damn picky and want it to succeed.
Differences aside. Griefer, carebear, forum dads or even if youre my greatest pal in the world jockey79.
We all love this game man. Its cool we disagree.
But this is what I try to tell people. Were all on the same side.
We beat eachother up here for a reason. They should really be worried when that stops happening though.
Know what I mean?
Durn it that's twice I've agreed. I'm going to power drink really strong coffee till I'm jittery and belligerent.
You get jitter when you use gimbals. Try fixed.

I posted something in another thread a while back, and I believe it is relevant here.
While ED is highly likely to remain an on-going project, there are unmistakable facts about game development and studios.
The following is my perspective after more than 3 decades in this business, and I believe ED has fully found its way here.
- The current main project will always have the studios attention, most of the resources (both human and financial), and focus. This is not Elite Dangerous, and hasn't been for a while.
- Content for projects that are on-going but not the studios focus will be slow in development, and have limited QA focus.Mainly because of limited resources, both in personnel and budget.
- Profits from the latest and greatest project never directly benefit older projects.Older projects usually have minimal personnel assigned to them, the bulk of which often include those that are less pivotal in the studios larger goals, or newer personnel that are less experienced with the engine the studio prefers to use.
- No matter how much the project is the "pet" of any studio executives, resources are still an issue.Unless a studio is in an active growth state, e.g. hiring personnel for simultaneous large scale projects), resources will shift around to where they are needed most. This usually means that the best people on one project get moved to the newest project they expect to keep the studio financially profitable.
- Art personnel are usually shared across multiple projects.Usually, and with a focus on the current main project, with tasks from older projects waiting for gaps.
- Older projects are on the bottom of the marketing and community totem poles.Marketing is very expensive. The average marketing department in a big studio will easily have a budget 2-3 times that of any other department in a studio. Community management personnel are also expensive and is why there's usually minimal focus on older less profitable projects, and the reason why many forums have volunteer moderation staff, it cuts costs tremendously.
This is not an all-inclusive list by any stretch, I could go on for another 4 or 5 hours, but I think the list above cover the main highlights.
Pay particular attention to point 4. This is still Braben's game, it's still his pet, but he does need to make sure the company is making money and keeping the doors open and the paychecks being written. That means his focus is going to be on what is keeping his and his employees paychecks funded, and that, my friends, is not Elite Dangerous.
At best this 'ten year plan' ends at the end of 2018..
Where is the rest of it? There isn't anything beyond.. and that kiddo is the point..
At this point, we have the entire player base, many folks who are far from being low in the IQ department, but no one has been able to offer any counter to my point other than personal attacks..
I'm not here for a win, I just want ED to be awesome, that I ruffle so many feathers really is revealing.
