Finally - Doomsday and retreat to Colonia?

Im staying...as disinterested as I am in what the cabbages do, I also dont react well to being told what to do or where to go. Currently I dont see why such a stance would change simply because the species does.

Even though none of my weapons will do anything to them, but they will be useful in motivating any of you noobs to get outta my way when it is time to run...or just kill ye cos thargoid creds are worth so much more than human creds.

Nothing personal ye understand...purely business we been doing it to each other since records began so technically, its the only career in the world thats older than adult entertainment involving the discretion of the opposite gender...gotta be careful how to phrase that one ^

There's not going to be major anything, ever. At this stage, I don't think FD have the...what's the word...minerals.

Agreed. Time and again we've seen what the game has been able to support in terms of dynamic content, and it has always been atrocious.

Would anybody like some salami?

When/if they do attack, I shall valiantly avoid all USS's where they appear.

That'll show 'em!

*EDIT*

Said it before but, when I see this through my canopy, they'll have my attention.

I really do not get why people are so fixated on the notion of a mass migration to Colonia.
Jump, scoop, honk for three hours to get there for what?

Doubt there will be a full and forced evacuation of the bubble, ever. It will get absolutely wrecked and become an extremely dangerous war zone though.

Oh man, im starting to think that is a 1st april joke that people only discovered 5 days latter.

Still waiting for the "news" - Maybe the thargoids don't have clocks to see the time?

I keep thinking there are generally three major areas with different playstyles in the game: The bubble, where combat, space trucking, and powerplay happens, pleiades, where stuff like aliens happens, and the larger galaxy elsewhere, which is mainly for people who like exploring the galaxy. Being able to choose your own style of play seems like an important part of the game, which is why I think the bubble, at least the part not on the fringes, will be mostly fine to allow space truckers to space truck.

In any case, my guess is that Thargoids will be mostly restricted to non-human signal sources and other things which players are allowed to avoid to ignore. Perhaps a lore reason would be that Thargoids can't supercruise interdict because they can't use supercruise. Maybe the Thargoid probes or sensors act a bit like Jump Beacons in X3AP, and Thargoids can only jump to probe locations or something like that, limiting them to normal space and hyperspace. Oh, maybe that's what hyperdictions are: Hyperspace collisions between incompatible hyperspace drives, not necessarily thargoids actively attempting to pull people down. I'm babbling again.

Edit: I kind of want to see a Thargoid power in powerplay for some reason.

Never going to happen. Would be the dumbest thing FD ever do and that's saying something in context of CQC, Powerplay, Engineers, Player factions. I know PFs have been wet-dreaming about the day every player has to pay homage to them by living in their controlled space but that's all it is - a wet dream.

tl;dr: Pollux listening post recites messages in french that were spread short before D-Day in WW II.

So I have a little prophecy:
Since the introduction of Colonia I thought this is for a reason. I speculated that we all will have to retreat one day ... to Colonia.

And the announced overhaul of eploration fits wonderfully with the necessary expansion of Colonia when lots of ships and ppl from the bubble arrive.

Poor powerplayers ... [blah] ... but that´s fate. Similar happened to the twelve colonies in Battlestar Galactica.

PS: I knew the Thargs are French :D

Hm, when the Thargoids are French, doesn't that make us automatically the baddies? Are we the Baddies?

If the Thargoids wanted to wipe us out, the'd kill off Colonia first since its puny and weak, and far away to make counterstrikes and defence difficult. Unless we have megaship buses every other day there, I'd feel safer in the bubble.

Once Colonia is dead, then you move inward to create mass panic and let the humans break themselves with fear and infighting. Then, when they are weakest you pop on in and harvest.

Galactica only survived as it was a moving convoy of ships. The minute they made a new colony it all went wrong and the Cylons caught up.

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, if it turns out that the Thargoids look like Tricia Helfer, I may be forced to re-evaluate my opinion of them.

If this doomsday turns out to be anything like the return, it will pass most ppl by and it will be buisness as usuall.

Do you hope you're wrong though?

I feel sometimes there shouldn't be a choice.

Getting invaded shouldnt be a choice. We should be royally screwed and forced to do things sometimes in games like this.

Exactly. My personal wish is that (with all of Elite) you have to make morally ambiguous choices to survive- for all those people who hate AEGIS and INRA, I'd love it if they were the only way humans could survive but at a cost.

Thargoids need to be everywhere, lurking. Every time you take off, they should be in your mind as you hope you don't get targetted, and that if it was a choice you'd wish they'd attack and kill your best friend than get you.

Keeping Thargoids in POIs is not threatening at all, and makes any looming threat silly.

Well, Thargoids are all female, so you might get lucky.

But then, they eat you afterwards so maybe not so lucky.

And in what comparable situation are we? Are we already sieged and will get freed by our friends (whom actually?) soon?
Or are we the "germans", the occupying force meant to be wiped away, and this hidden message is to the disguised aliens hiding already in our society, which don't speak alien anymore, so the message had to be understandable for us?

No, I don't get it how every non-understood hint must always be tharg related and allows only one conclusion...

This is not a prophecy but just your own wet dream, which we keep hearing repeated since the inception of Colonia.
Come on, Colonia is not more than the target of some guys quitting existing society to find something new, better .. because the grass on the other side is always greener, like the early pilgrims :)

Poor dreamer! [heart]
