Exploraconda

Hi everyone. I'm getting the itch to go out exploring again. And am considering taking my conda which i haven't used for anything yet. Been out in the black with my aspx and my plython before.
So anyway in your experience and opinions what is the conda like out exploring and is it worth taking and any tips for exploring in a conda also if you would like share your exploraconda build.

I quite liked it when I went out in my python.
Just thought might give the conda a go specially since i haven't used her for anything yet.

I might be out in the black for a few months or longer.

Here's my A-rated Explorer Anaconda. Other players will probably be better being more serious about it. Fuel scooping takes seconds versus minutes. Important with 300 plus jumps. I did not want to get bored. I've never gone past 5k LY with it but that is just me. It might give you a few ideas.

Hey there,
Condas are a great choice for Exploring, ridiculous jump range, more slots you ever need, size 7 fuelscoop... only real downside is imho the awfull turn rate in
SC.

If you don't mind to lose a little bit jump range I would highly suggest a fighter bay, whenever space madness kicks in just look for a nice canyon and have some fun.

Besides the usual stuff, I would definitely go for lightweight mods on a Conda, especially the Sensor give you a nice boost.

It can fit everything you could need while out there and it has the biggest jump range. Lightweight mods are a must because the sensors and life support are so heavy, even D rated. If you've got clean drive thrusters you can get away with overcharging a smaller power plant without giving it heating issues. I think 2a is the smallest possible but that would probably need grade 5 overcharge. That may well give heating issues, I don't know. I think I went with a 3a on mine. Obviously a grade 5 FSD will make a lot of difference too. Especially with the experimental effect that adds to the optimal mass. Can't remember the name of it though. Mass manager I think.

Downsides are a terrible view from the cockpit and poor supercruise handling. And price. Especially the 7a fuel scoop, which is definitely worth it for a long trip, assuming you have the funds.

On another trip to Beagle in my Explore Conda....I am pretty biased. I have more than 500k ly exploring in just this ship and despite wanting to take other ships into the black, I keep coming back to the conda for long durations.

Heavily engineered, 2 SRVs, AFMs, Repair limpet controller and still rocking 63ly range for the heck of it.

So here are two versions of my conda, the first is what I would take anywhere. My trick is to know where my fuel tank icon has to be for me to have my 50Ly jump range and just not fuel scoop as much along the way. Give me the range I want and if need be I can top the tank off and push a full 900+ light years in distance between scooping stars. The second is a ‘bare bones’ version which you can mod as you see fit.

Note: I have a G5 Legacy FSD roll on my fsd...

Conda is utterly DULL for exploration.
Once you have done a 180 in SC to scan an object behind you a couple of times, you will realise that it is only good for going out there, and no good at all for when you arrive.

If you need all those module slots, you are either rubbish, or are not taking your journey seriously enough

I am currently taking this out on the Beagle Point Expedition as the fuel rat and fleet mechanic for the XBox contingent. It is only partly engineered, and pre-3.0 at that.

(For DWE2 I am currently down as going in my RAsp, but I am going to change that to a Python later).

Here's an anaconda build on EDShipyard: http://www.edshipyard.com/new/#/L=C...PcIlhXKqpD2UI02jwG5G21000D400,CONDA_0TEMPLATE

Using a 3A power distributor with G5 High capacity + Cluster capacitors meaning you can shed some weight & still have the capacity to boost.

PP is a 4A with a G1 overcharged + thermal spread, it also should have the enough power for extras such as fighter bays, larger SRV hangers or even the new guardian FSD booster once fixed while remaining cooler than a stock 4A. You could even go as far down as a 2A PP with careful engineering although too many trade offs unless you're making a pure jumpaconda.

The rest is pretty much standard, while not necessary I do recommend taking extra fuel. The template above has an extra 8T to make it 5 full jumps without scooping as opposed to 4.

Ignore the troll post!

the 'Conda is my goto ship for exploration. Iv finished remodding it from 3.0 engineering & I'm happy with what Iv got now & will be going on DWE2 with it later on this year.

You can set it you how you want, depending on what you want to do while out exploring, modding it to your own liking depending on what jump range you're looking for. Lt Wt modding reducing weight to add that extra jump range if needed.
A 7A scoop is recommended for quick scooping & 2 SRV's for planet landings, the rest is personal choice.
The only minus is it's turning. It turns like a canal barge, although it's something you get used to once in SC & exploring.

The choice is yours with this versatile ship.

I take 4 buggy’s because I might want to do some jousting, cliff diving, racing and or generally be an idiot with more than one to spare when fighting off space madness. Same goes for taking a fighter hanger bay, if I want to zoom zoom some canyons or have some fun with friends these toys allow me such.

Maybe we take all of those refuel & repair limpet controllers because we are the Search&Rescue ship among our friends and have a few duties to fulfill while out in the dark, or the odd chance we come across a stranded commander whom posted in the forums and we happen by shear luck to be close enough to embark on a rescue.

Maybe I am a scrub and don’t take my Exploration Seriously ;)

Indeed. There is quite a difference between a general exploration build and specifically an expedition build. Were I not on an expedition I wouldn't be packing so many SRVs or the fighter. On expeditions, though, hijinks happen. I lost three SRVs on the Azophi Expedition, loving it all the way to the kabooms.

Thankfully I've lost none so far on the Beagle Point Expedition, but this time around my expedition mates are a quieter group. That being said, I am determined to jump off a cliff to certain death for funsies when closer to the end of this :D

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..................................... *kaboom!!*

Edit: I also did this the other day :D

Like another Commander said earlier today on another thread, just because the universe of ED is a cynical sour-faced place that doesn't mean the community has to be!

I recently made a trip to Sag.A*. Before setting off I considered using the AspX I already had, or my Anaconda lightened. The Anaconda would get greater jump range after engineering, but obviously be slower at lining up jumps. Some jumping time trials convinced me that the Asp would actually cover light-years at a greater rate on average, so off I went in that.

Other pilots might fly the Anaconda more efficiently than me, but in my case the Asp seemed better.

the anaconda is a fantastic ship to explore in!
It has massive advantage over all other ships cause its weight is less that half of its armour.
It does turn really slowly which it shouldn't do really for a 400t ship with 7a thrusters it should handle like a vulture and do 600m/s!!
FDev should fix this!

To be fair though, exploration isn't always about getting from A to B in the most efficient way, or fastest time.....it's about heading off to a region/system in the galaxy & seeing what you can find.

That's my take on it, but then again I have plenty of time to play ED, others may not.

Yeah, they should fix it by adding 300t to the mass of the damn ship. The thing is made of unicorn farts and rainbows. It should have been hit with the nerf-bat years ago.

*ouch* 240 - 350 million? I made it to 175 million in my 'Conda fund before giving in to temptation and buying a(nother) Python!

Here's a suggestion. If you don't like the Anaconda, maybe it's not the best ship for you to go exploring in.

(If someone else does like it, perhaps it will be the best choice for them).
