Is unmaned mothership a target when in SLF?

I just purchased a ship that supports a SLF and want to go try out the SLF in a highrez. If I park the mothership several clicks away from the battle, hop in my fighter, and then fly to the zone and attack a target, is the mothership also tagged and under potential fire?

RE: Don't want to mess with NPC pilots yet, and don't want a 30mil cr rebuy because I left mother defenseless.

Devs kinda changed things but it's still workable. Previously you could park the mother ship out at the tether limit, shut down the mother ships thrusters then head into the action. Your ship will be well out of sensor range from all the action.

The last patch made a change, if you shut down the motherships engines you won't be allowed to redock. Not a huge deal, just switch back to the mothership when ready, restart it's engines and recall the fighter.

Just a quick note buddy, since you don't have a crew member it will be a little more tricky, you cant recall the fighter because no one is there to fly it back for you. You would have to start the engines, switch back to the fighter and manually fly it back to the mother ship. No idea why the devs changed things in the last update.

If you have a little cash you could hire a mostly harmless crew member for the trip, fire them before cashing in your bounties, they will take a cut if you don't fire them.

Thanks again. Change of plans based on your helpful remarks: went ahead and hired a crew member and set up voice commands; might as well bite into the learning curve now.

After the Inter-stel folks hitting me for 25%, 12% for an expert is not too bad a deal until I get my feet wet. Will then train a novice to experience that part of the game-play.

If you're going for a 12% Expert pilot, fire them before you cash in any bounties or other income. Then hire another one just before you head back out. :)

Partial success; AI followed voice commands (DNS) much better than the ARMA AI I've used for 1.5 decades. We traded ships back and forth; she flys the Anaconda better than I do.

Was in High Rez and all was going swimmingly until I picked a fight with a 3-wing that had a gun ship. She did her part, I got hit with one big something in the little Imperial fighter (fixed beam version) and back into the conda I went.

What an absolute hoot though. Next stop is LTT 4487 11A for mats; entire planet is canyons so I'll be doing some FAO practice.

Thanks again for all the help!

The fighters all come with their own hotkey commands so you can instruct them to do a myriad of things when you launch them.

If you're in the fighter then the mothership will obey the same commands. So you can tell it to stay put, come along, focus your target, attack at random, defend you (attack whatever attacks you) cease all fire and do nothing.

Fair warning, the AI is ranked 'Mostly Harmless' so if you've got a good loadout it can survive fine in Low and Hi REZ sites. I'd get an actual NPC with an actual skill level to leave in command of the Mothership if you're going to take it to HAZ or CZ's.
