Ah well. Blown to suit again lol

When will I learn that open play and community missions is a recipe for disaster....isn't there a rule somewhere about murder ? It's OK <ahem>... I'm grinning.

It doesn't have to be a recipe for disaster if you're prepared for it. (and you should always expect it at busy areas like CG's)
I built my python specifically for running CG's. G6 engineered prismatics, engineered reactive armor, HRP, MRP, boosters, PDT, etc.
I rarely got interdicted, and when i did, escape was relatively easy.

Sure, I couldn't haul quite as much as a shieldless conda or T9, but that's part of the sacrifice.

I actually miss being pirated.
Only happened to me a few times. But the back and forth banter, the haggling, it was a lot of fun.

Good pirates are rare. Last time I got hit by one was hilarious. Was runninf slaves. Interdicted.. so I jettison one slave and respond with "eek! A rat! Do what you want to the girl but leave me alone!".

Many laughs had that day. Only cost me a few slaves.

didnt the chance to exchange banter... interdicted...one shot no shields...two shots..hey I'm back in base again...900,000 missing off the bank balance...

yep, that's not a pirate. that's just someone that wants you dead.
one-shotted your shields? yeah, that's probably not a ship you want to try CG's with.

asp explorer with a lot of bells and whistles all "a" equipment, modified for speed nice low thermal signature, or to take on small npc's but not quick enough this time.

If you want full-blown speed, try out an iCourier with advanced thrusters.
Also, a DBS is great if you want to run cool and keep the signature low. Though to be honest, I don't know how much that helps when you're boosting away from someone. Fire-blasting thrusters are hot. ;)

I smuggle when I get the chance and I've also developed a tactic for when I'm doing the "we need this commodity" missions... you know when you get a pair of anacondas after you...power out, silent running, wait till the cops jump in and then turn round and bite back but not until the shields are down and the cops have done most of the work...

And herein lies the problem, for me at least. In a trade CG, hauling vast quantities of useless stuff was the first and only carrot on the stick - without it, what's the point of running it in the first place? And you can't tell me that running the blockade is any fun, not with the lopsided, RNGineer riddled, highwake guaranteed, yawn inducing encounters this game is famous for.

That's why a while back I suggested segregating the CG rankings (not the CG! just the rankings) by mode, so that people facing similar odds would compete against each other instead of everyone, but that was met with disgust at best, as it is usual on this forum.

You know, it's funny. With this CG in Lambda Area, I've had the polar opposite experience to every other CG in the past two years that I've done. I ran probably 20 loads of Gold and Superconductors in and out of Redi Market in my T9 and was not interdicted a single time by a human CMDR. I even went out in my Cheiftain to see if I could protect some folks if trouble did arise...I couldn't find a single wanted CMDR. Not one! Then, last night, I decide to get stuck in to the combat CG and head out to Mehet. Crack off about 3 mil and decide to turn it in and once in system at Lambda Area, I was interdicted twice - once by a wing - and all of them were "shoot first ask later" types. Made it back to cash in the bounties with 24% hull... but man it's been a weird CG.

Well, personally, I didn't pirate much at the Lambda one, because, high security means the cops arrive in ten seconds.

When your pirating in a Cobra Mk3, you can't really tank their damage.

I did manage to stealth scoop some stuff, but it was a hell of a lot harder than at the other CG, which was only medium security.

these cg's are great for a low rank cmdr trying to build up but doing it solo play is no fun.
doing cg on open with the "shoot first ask questions later" people around, is no fun;

i'm reminded of a judo player at my former club that did not know how to take it easy on low rankers in practice, injuring more than one, nobody would go on the mat when he was there.
I'm feeling the same about these damn cg's.
what are the rules about cmdr murder now?

I learn something new everyday. I would never have thought about the security of the system affecting PvP...but I guess now that you say it out loud, I feel foolish for not having thought of it first.

what are the rules about cmdr murder now?

  • notoriety +1
  • ATR comes after you when your notoriety or bounty is high enough. (not sure of the exact trigger)
  • slightly increased rebuy if you're killing weaker ships
  • and of course the bounties mean anonymous access only in any areas where you're wanted.

Overall, not much to impede those who wish to do the random killings.

I've raised the thought before... i'll raise it again. these "players" that think its cool to go round beating up on others just cos they CAN... leave the piracy bit out. that's kind of a legit tactic.
i'd love to be part of a sort of vigilante wing that where a cmdr gains a rep for beating up on others, well... the wing goes hunting.
