How many copies of Elite Dangerous do you own?

This is a great feature of the consoles - I made my XBOX One X my "home console" and have three accounts I use to make Elite vids.

But I just bought the Core edition on sale for $12 so I could use my alt on my second xbox while on the treadmill :)

While I have my steam games installed on multiple PCs, having a second copy of Elite on a second Stream account allows me to start over if I want, and also allows me to "steam family share" it with any friend who wants to try it out while also playing with that friend using my main account :)

You can do the same thing on PC using Steam Family Sharing - just like on the consoles create another account with a new email address, and then do the Steam Family Sharing with that account.

Very cool - was the first one not from FDev? I know FDev gave me a steam and oculus key each time I purchased directly from them.

As mentioned above, why not try Steam Family Sharing?

I also would like to see multiple save slots / accounts like in other online open world games, but for FREE. And I would like to share any purchased items between them (paint jobs, etc.) It would also be cool if they could use each others ships (again, like other open world games)

I got the extra 2 during the bargain holiday sale in Dec. I used one to "star over" without having to do a reset on the first one which is actually a fun replay experience. The third keeping around maybe someday to give as a gift after sprucing it up a bit, getting it up to python or so.

My 3rd was a 'lets start from scratch'. Then thought! Wait! MultiCrew! so off to the HazRez and made a few million. Straight to Quince and got enough for an Anaconda and then went doing the Passenger thing. Before it was a week old it was Billionaire, Elite Trade, and sitting in a Cutter :) Also did VolleyBoom and Wing-Delivery missions. So much for 'starting Fresh :D

Yes, my first copy was direct from FDev (kickstarter backer) and the option was there to use a Steam key, but I understand that Steam gets a cut of everything previously bought (which would include lifetime pass, paint jobs, etc) which seemed a bit unfair. I can fully agree with a cut on anything bought while in Steam but to include items bought before a transfer to Steam was a bit too much for my liking. Please correct me if I'm wrong in thinking this is the case.

So after I discovered that I could only use my VR headset from WITHIN Steam I decided to go for a second account.

I had been considering a second account anyway, but had been holding back to see if multi Commander saves on one account was going to be implemented. With the consoles having multiple saves it was looking like that may come to the PC as well, for a short while anyway, but that seems to have gone off the radar for now. The VR thing just hastened my decision.
Plus I bought the second account while it was on sale, so not too much of a hit.
Also I reckon I've got way more moneys worth out of this game than what I've paid for, including the second account.

Nah, I have 3 copies, 2 on PC and 1 on Xbox. Rather than multiple copies, I would like character slots, like other games, I have 5 toons on ESO and 3 on Destiny 1 and 2. The issue with character slots can be the whole account vs. character bound items and currency. I'm sure FD will/might create character slots once they design the rules and infrastructure but they might only give you 3 for free and charge for extra slots. That won't stop some players from buying multiple copies, on ESO I know people that have 30 toons, 15 on each megaserver. That doesn't take into account Xbox/PS4 accounts.

FD could so easily make this "premium downloadable content" without programming anything .... and keep anyone who wants to pay .... and LEP owners ..... and themselves happy !

Two, both for the PS4. One was a digital base game that I bought at launch so I could play until I could track down a physical copy of the Legendary Edition in my city, which took two weeks.
