And that is your choice, but he is wrong. He has done PVE negating his claims, He then claims the game is a PVP game as much as a PVE game when it is no more a PVP game than Skyrim is a "Crafting and Resources" game. The ability to do something in the game and only that, especially something that has no real effect on anything in the game, does not define the game. Though HE keeps trying to make the false claim that it did. His "100% PVP" cannot alter a system, cannot stop a war, cannot affect the BGS and the driving force of the game at all. What can it do.. destroy other ships.

It can destroy other players, much bigger impact than all the BGS combined simply because people care about being destroyed and dont care about some war between system procgenerate (x) vs system procgenerate (y)

Your last two arguments are extremely funny. You suddenly now claim that we have no real effect on the BGS... yet look at ALL YOUR OTHER POSTS... what do they say? Modes are not fair because people can go away form open and wait for it... affect the BGS.

PLus your ability to destroy other players doesn't make a bigger impact then all the BGS.. because only the BGS dictates the game.. not your PVP..

My other posts talk about BGS of a player faction not some generic npc system.

You are not impacting anyone simply because there is noone to impact except procedurally generated NPCs. You are literaly playing against yourself unless that system happens to have a PF.

The system you are impacting is not important to anyone but yourself. Its the same thing as killing NPCs in haz res hoping that no more will spawn because you killed them all, only the reality is more will appear in this endless process regardless of you being there.

The only thing you actually can impact is another player faction.

You do understand that players don't own any factions in game?

They are just NPCs that someone got to name.... big whoop.
You don't get to add anything to your ship or name that says you're part of it, because it's not yours.

So, what you're saying about my impact, applies to you as well.
Because all you've done is pretend you belong to some NPCs.

So, my point stands.
My impact on NPCs I care nothing about, will hold longer than your PvP for NPCs who have a name you like.

Ooh, they could limit BGS attacks on player factions to open.

That would be neat.

They *could*, maybe. I don't expect them to though - as when Sandro briefly mused regarding a bonus for PowerPlay in Open he was clear to state that it would not apply to the BGS - and a bonus is not limiting content to one game mode.

Player named factions are no different from than generic factions. They’re all NPCs. Players have no control over PNFs. They can simply affect them in the BGS by, you guessed it, PvE actions only.

So only PNFs matter?

Please... again you are trying to twist out of your own comments.... How can a player suddenly do so much against the BGS if ONLY they are player factions... but doing the same actions at a NPC (which player factions are actually) faction they are minuscule... if they are minuscule at one then they are at the other... and that minuscule they do to either is STILL more than what you can do with PVP.

Once again it is not useless. You choose to see it that way is all. First you are making a huge assumption that everyone who opposes you is going to play in PG or Solo, you also seem to ignore anyone who may be helping you in any mode other than open.

Of course your agenda is not helped by these simple possibilities so you have no choice but to ignore them, just as you seemingly have no option but to ignore PvP as a fun and enjoyable interaction, for you it seems PvP is only an means to an end.

If its not fun why do you do it? This is a game, the objectives are all temporary, shifting, and in your mind. The purpose of any play-style is to have fun, if its just objectives to you there are a whole lot of better ways to spend your time.

Very good questions ^,^

What it seems to boil down to mouse is if its their player faction its a Huge deal, or if a faction has players that are attached to it it hurts their feelings so they get upset about it. Of course when its a player they kill and that player gets upset they call them a snowflake or some other such tripe. They cant see it in their actions though.

By the way love the Pegasus in that post. can you pm me the location to find it?

Now you just need a bear with a chaingun.

Its not a huge deal to be attacked if you own a PF, even fun. Whats a big deal is to be attacked from safety of retaliation.

Your points play into the issue that platform, mode, and instancing are all limitations to an Open only discussion. Specifically your point about helpers in other modes.

Open only doesn’t solve other platforms. Some will say that we recruit and span all platforms platforms (helpers). I want to know why can’t player factions recruit across modes as well. Especially if it’s so easy to recruit and span across platforms for helpers.

Once again, the only way to retaliate is to fill the appropriate PvE buckets. Once again, yeah that has a lot of potential fun connected to it.

As above, players don't own factions - Frontier just lets people name an NPC faction for giggles.

Yes they do, they do work for this faction, they want it to suceed, expand, win wars etc. This is as much owning a faction as the game allows it. I was part of Federal Reclamation in Delkar system, it was very much a property that we cared about and worked hard.

If you are attacked by randoms from solo, you have noone to retaliate against. You dont even know who is attacking you. You just see your influence going down.
So grinding to save your faction? Yes you can, but to teach them a lesson not to mess with your stuff? You can't.

You are associated with the faction, and you identify with the faction, but you cannot control the faction. You can only react to the faction's actions. You can't even control where they may expand into, you can, at most, anticipate where that can happen.

I am associated with a couple of factions in my favored system. I didn't name them, they were there when I got there. I have same attachment to them, you may have had with Fed. Rec. I take missions from their representatives. That's about it.

Yeah, and when some of us say something like "wouldn't it be cool to have some PvP buckets too?"...

All we hear is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
[haha]

Completely annoying.

But, the text portion of that temper tantrum is false. There have been many calls, including some from myself, to ADD what would amount to PvP buckets. But, they are rejected because they don't include restricting access to the existing game mechanics outside of open.

You can but it boils down to pvp being meaningless if all your wars are fought in private modes against an invisible enemy.

Its more efficient to do BGS activites in SOLO where you can fly shieldless min maxed traders without any opposition.

Its not the same. We were a group of 30 people working together for a purpose. Yes it still NPC faction but this is as far as the game allows.

Again... organize a war... you can do it... in open or in a PG.. get all those who WANT to participate in it to go there... if someone doesn't obey the rules... the only thing you can blame is the cheater. Except you do not, you don't organize the war, but want to blame everything else except what is really at fault.

Except if the participants, on both sides, want to engage in PvP as part of that war. Then you are all set. You have access to the 'magical bonus modes'. Use them. It's not like you are defenseless.

Another thought; if all of your opponents are in Solo/PG, you have free reign in open. It becomes just as threat free as Solo/PG. You never even have to log into Solo to get the 'magical benefit'. Your opponents give it to you free.

(Just a note before you freak out, and claim that I just admitted there is a 'magical bonus' in Solo/PG, I didn't. I call it that to mock the idea that there is some advantage outside of open. I hope that clears things up in advance.)
