I have a laugh today because someone left a rant in my profile:

"Why are you pulling my posts? I put some of those in to get the Devs to look at it. You have no right to do that. I realize that you are British and only do what's proper but here in the US we have right that allow us to have free speech even when we are angry. You guys should try it. Instead of aggravating people."

First I was like "What the ..." then it turned to laughter during the reading! I am very flattered that he thought I was a moderator!

People, as an American, I apologize for this kind of behavior when it happens on this forum! I know all you English chaps and Australian blokes etc will completely agree that you're ALWAYS proper!

I'm sure the this person won't mind that I posted his comments anonymously because he's so into (his definition of) free speech!

Somethimes it's Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool...

LOL!

On behalf of otherwise intelligent and educated Americans, I want to apologize for that posters absolute ignorance of what free speech is and how it actually applies. They are not ALL that dumb, though some did vote for Trump so I guess...yeah...I'll see myself out now.

LOL I was smart. I voted for my sister. I did not trust dumb or dumber as canadates at the time.

Canadates. Is that what they call politicians in Canada? I like it! :)

Again, I'm taking this moment a say that this thread in no way endorses political speech of any kind

... and that I'm am not one of the esteemed panel of moderators whole always discipline the appropriate parties for behavior in contrary to forum conduct rules.

:D

You're obviously jealous of the freedoms given to him by the baby Jesus.

Great Britain's not the only place that can have a Brexit vote :D

@CMDR QUANTIS TRAP: It says right below your name that you are a moderator. You not seeing that?

(Come on folks, back me up. We can convince the Emperor he's got new clothes!)

If so, I'm craftier than I thought, because I know I didn't sign the contract yet!

The thing that got me is the thinking that us British are still all walking around wearing top hat and tails, puffing a cirgerate from a holder and sipping on a gin and tonic telling each other what a spiffing good show it all is.

The British doing the right thing.....laughing my very British/English backside off. (just to add I left the UK a while back, the place is a mess, still love the place just not the people in charge, sorry poltics)

There is no freedom of speech without the other's freedom to refuse to host or simply ignore their speech. I'm always taken aback by those refering to the freedom of speech to defend a post on a Forum, whatever the Content may have been. The freedom of speech is something way too noble to be taken as a line of defence at each and every mundane occasion.

No place is perfect, USA got Trump, UK got Brexit, us in Canada got manchild hippy Trudeau

The funny part is that 99% of the people that whine about their 1st Amendment rights in the USA can't even quote the Amendment itself.

Hell, I've challenged people to just give me the first five words, rather than the entire text of the Amendment, and they can't even do that. LOL

Not being an American I just had a look at it, it does say...oh wait once you look at what freedom of speach means or how or what you can say within the laws of the land it all becomes a bit messy.

Saying that I think as this forum is hosted in the UK it falls under the laws of the UK and then the laws/rights of FD.

(I might be wrong in the bits about law, im no lawyer and its blurg to me :p)

That's okay. Even in the US of A Freedom of Speech doesn't prevent a private company from removing posts from a site that they own/administer. It only prevents the government from abridging the people's right to heard.
