Commodity Market???

While you guys are feeling helpful I could do with some help please with a confusing problem.

I've just taken on a passenger lounge mission, the guy has asked me for 2 units of clothing. No problem right?

So I use the map comodity/trade route filter thingy. It's shows a few blue lines most of them coming OUT FROM Dahan. So I think 'ok so Dahan stations are exporting Clothing'.
I head over there and, no clothing for sale in either station.
When I hover over clothing in the commodity sale screen it says on the right: "exported to, I Bootis, Aulin," etc.
So I think. 'Okay maybe I got this back to front.' And I head to the receiving systems in order to get some clothing.
Get to Aulin and nope. None for sale. It dies say "imported from Dahan" etc. in the commodity screen but there's none there to buy.
Am I being stupid? Or is it broken?

I find it's usually enough to correlate an item with a system economy (e.g. consumer technology/high tech, or most food with agriculture), and then check the system state (lockdown, boom, etc). Even without EDDB that's almost always enough to get by. Checking import/export routes in-game's generally not good enough.

But yeah, EDDB's frankly an essential tool. Or, rather, one that makes Elite less of a finicky hassle.

With regards to satisfying customer demands - 'IGNORE THEM' - I have yet to incur any penalty for just ignoring them and the extra rewards aren't worth the hassel in satisfying them.

To 'compare market' prices using the commodity market - you must have already visited the market you wish to use for comparision.

Selecting the market from the commodity screen

i) Enter the system name in the lookup box - you then need to select the 'found' system from the list box.
ii) Select the 'Market' you wish to compare using the left right arrow on the market shown
iii) Select Export (as in 'export from current market to destination') or Import ( as in import from i.e.'cost of goods if available' at the comparison market').
iv) select 'OK' to apply choices

When using the trade route data - you need to select the class of commodity and then select the sub-type of commodity you want shown, then check the direction of flow, t.b.h. I've not found this method useful.

I would much rather use the in game tools. But eddb is just too awesome.
It's hardly cheating though, as it's still hard graft, and about a thousand interdictions per second just to deliver it.

If you don’t t accept or decline the request you don’t incur any negative response from the the numpty who wants 2 tons of frikin dishwashers while going 4 kly into the black

even better, if you dont have a cargo module on you ship its not possible possible to accept the requests.

You look for a given commodity and then check for Export prices. In theory, whichever station has an export price for the commodity actually sells it. Of course this only applies to stations you've already visited. Which brings me to eddb.io as well. Frankly it's a bit beyond me why Frontier didn't simply implement EDDB features into the game.

However if the numpty is offering goods as part of the reward for carrying them, they won't get off the ship until they can gives you the reward goods and you need cargo space to accept them.
