Can other ships shoot at me whilst sitting on landing pad at outposts?

Up until now I have always made a habit of entering the outpost before going into starport services just to be sure that I don't get 'sniped at' whilst delivering missions, etc.

Is this really necessary? Can other players or NPCs shoot at me before I hit launch?

Whilst wanting to be invulnerable on the landing pad, I did want to be able to blast away at the NPC and other pad-hoggers without fear of retribution.

Thanks everyone for your answers.

If its just a npc blocker, requesting docking again a 2nd time seems to que them to undock, try it. As for Pc's, just get up in their windscreen flash ur lights and turn up the stereo.

Yes, they can shoot at you all they want. But you're invulnerable, so they can't actually damage you. You in effect become part of the station's structure, enjoying its invulnerability and its protection.

Back when violent Thargoid hyperdictions first happened, someone lured a Thargoid into the same instance as an Outpost, to see what would happen. They got some lovely pictures of Thargoid weaponry opening up on them while they were sitting invulnerable on the pad.

I'm not convinced it's related, I think they just go through a scripted sequence. Player pad hoggers are about the only time I'll switch modes, if it's clear they aren't going to move (for whatever reason) I'll just switch to solo, dock & switch back again.
