I feel like an idiot....I have been doing things instead of stuff. Was there a buff to stuff I missed?
Public huge money making exploit : None
Private huge money making exploit : Dunno
Huge haulage money making gameplay : Ask 777Driver
Decent Mission running : Find a system you like, do data delivery & missions with the most REP untill you get allied and start getting big money missions(surface scan, skimmer,passenger etc.)
Just play... Honestly, do some Missions, trade, whatever and first of all, enjoy the game. There's no need to earn tons of credits in no time at the beginning, you'd be missing to much of the game and the rewarding feeling for getting your first better ship and whatnot. Just let it flow...
This. If you find the right system and spend the first 30 minutes getting Allied with all factions, you can still make 100M/hour; the issue being that now the "ideal system" constantly changes.

I made a 1.5 billion with passenger missions.
Now i don't know what to spend it on. I just play and have fun now. No more credit grinding.
Why do you need money? You dont have to get money. This is your game. You are supposed to be a space janitor in your game. Big 3 are just poster ships, some distant goal you might never achieve and you dont have to. Some mostly harmless kid ganks you in a Cutter? About everyone who plays for more than 2 months have multiple copies of every ship in the game? This is your game. Play space janitor in the rank of an Admiral. Just play in solo. All you have to do is to pray to our good lord RNGsus which might help you in some areas. Rest of the time you are supposed to haul biowaste. After 5 years of playing you might get a D rated conda. What else you can spend your time on? You are supposed to roleplay a space bum in this game which is forbidden from doing anything but basic jobs due to his homeless status and mental disability. This is how the game is supposed to be played and how it were designed. It is not just due to placeholder mechanics which are suddenly taken as a norm.

Heh, now I am feeling nestalgic for playing Space Quest.
I've always found buffed stuff to be better than bling things. But your mileage may vary.
