fastest way to make money?

What's the current fastest way to make money?
That depends.

How much money do you currently have? (A lot of the faster methods really need a big ship to start with - though not necessarily much beyond the basic hull)

Are you already triple Elite? (Mission payouts depend on rank, so if you're already Elite, you'll get more money for that mission type)

How much money do you want? (Quite a few good methods are fine for getting a large amount of money once, but are harder to repeat)

Are you actually any good at playing the game? (If you want one which can be combined with Netflix, only alt-tabbing to watch your balance rise every ten minutes or so, the options are less good)

Where are you and how willing are you to move? (Some of the better ones involve long-distance travel)

Do you have any friends who are willing to help? If so, just how helpful are they? (If they're willing to basically donate you money or their time, you can make it very quickly indeed)

So, let's start with the absolute fastest method [1]: get a very large number of friends who are all capable of soloing wing assassinations, and a station that generates a decent number of them. Your friends take the wing assassination missions, and you sign on to share those missions three at a time, handing them in as fast as those engineered Condas and Cutters explode. At around 5 million credits per mission, and it only taking 20 seconds or so to accept a wing invite, accept a mission share invite, and hand in the mission ... you could probably make around a billion credits per hour if you had enough friends.

There are several other inferior methods suitable to people who don't have a personal cult of thousands of devoted followers - these will earn between 50 and 100 million credits an hour in an optimal ship and situation: options include min-maxed Painite mining, passenger missions, skimmer missions, cargo missions, inter-bubble mission buckyballing ...

In the 10 to 50 million range, we have min-maxed exploration (road to riches), min-maxed bulk cargo trading, and min-maxed bounty hunting or CZ work, as well as a lot of other mission running options (surface scans, more types of passenger and cargo mission)

So, lots of options, depending on the constraints you have on you.

[1] In theory you could make money faster by turkey-shooting players who had accumulated 2 million credit bounties for you to claim, but in practice instancing limitations would mean you took more than 10 seconds per kill, so it would be slower overall.

publish an unfinished game, set up a virtual shop and sell cheap skins and random junk for it. people seem to love it.

Well you only had 3 options in the last year or 2 for space games :
A game developed by someone who didn't exactly tell the truth(Hello ;) )
A game selling virtual ship for £1000s
or ED.

Hello tires. Fdev does not.
NMS have more features than Elite does atm. I had actually bought and play it from time to time.

But other one smells like vapor.

I can make at least 10 mill credits/hour in a CZ killing at least 90 ships (which seems to be the limit per massacre mission). Oh, and harvest materials. And ranking up my rep with that faction. And ranking up my combat rank. And my crew-members rank. And my super-power rank.

Then I go to a material trader and trade up all the gathered materials for an abysmal exchange rate to higher rated materials. But that doesn't matter, because they were essential free to begin with.

I too have NMS(from release day)
Your post made me smile for the total 100% inaccuracy of it :)

Well I had played NMS on release... on my friend's pc...
But it is really night and day from what it was. So I had bought it. And actually play it.
If Fdev had put same level of effort those forums would die out.

Possible in even less time with millions of donations ... if offered.

@OP: If you find a good way to make money: Don´t post it here. Everyone should announce like this: "200m/hr, PM me if you want to know how."

Because ... FD

But the devs don't read the forums.....

Wait one cotton pickin second.

So the DO read the forums but in fact choose to ignore everything.

Put it this way...if I did know of a cash exploit, this forum would be the very last place on the planet Id share it on...because certain parties will cry and whine the house down demanding it be nerfed into oblivion.

Ones ear is to the ground waiting fer the dust to settle and the crying dies down a bit...hopefully we get back to normal soon cos this squeeze on credits aint anywhere near as amusing as it should be.

In the meantime, theres missions, half of which are a joke ergo it now needs three time the flipping it did in the past to achieve the same result as before...but its ok cos they value our time apparently ^

lol so true.

I took a break from 'exploiting' and atm heading to SAG A. When I get back I'll be back to "gaming" as hard as ever!

Unfortunately I don't have any friends on elite, I'm not elite yet ,but my current assets are around 300mil (including my type 9 which costs about 100 mil) what should I do?

I do not have any highly engineered ships, am not elite in any category, and just recently got a truly large ship.

Here are the methods that I have found make me the most money:

1) Exploration

2) Hauling basic medicines to outbreak systems or certain Megaships.

3) Long distance (supercruise distance) vip passenger missions

4) Platinum and Painite mining

5) Finding two isolated systems and running data missions between the two

If you would like any further information on these let me know.
I enjoy exploration and mining above the other methods. If you haven't tried exploration yet, I would recommend it. Try to get your name on some planets!
Long distance VIP missions are essentially afk flying for 30+ mins so you can do other things while you do these missions.

I enjoy space combat more than other activities but my low skill combined with no engineering means it is not as lucrative as other activities.
I have tried skimmer missions, but have found skimmer spawn rate and a myriad of other factors prevent those from being lucrative.
