Neutron Star Highway - Colonia

So I am on my first trip to Colonia.

I have equipped an AFMU module.

After about 1/4 of the trip, my FSD is 67%. However the REPAIR option is red x. I made sure I was OUT of supercruise (even just sitting still in normal space).

Still no option to repair. Deploying a Repair Limpet only repairs the cockpit and canopy.

Not sure what else to do. Right now, I stopped Neutron Star FSD charging to conserve the 67% as long as I can. Just not sure why I cannot repair.

EDIT: Is it possible to purchase and equip repair limpets but not have a AFMU equipped? I thought for sure I equipped one before I left. Checking my Modules list I do not see "Auto Field Maintenance Unit" only "Repair Limpet Controller". I would be so upset with myself.

Alright, I suspect you don't have an AFMU, could be wrong but quick troubleshooting:

Job 1 - Go to your right hand panel to the modules pane and scroll down to find out if theres something called "Auto Field Maintenance Unit" module there, should look like this if you pause the video at 31 minutes in. If not you are out of luck, head to the closest station (use eddb.io to find the nearest ones to you).
Job 2 - If there is one then is it powered on?
Job 3 - If the above answers are both yes then screenshot and post because that'd confuse me :p

Note: Repair limpet controller, cargo rack for limpets and AFMU are each separate modules the same way a Shield Generator is separate from a Shield Cell Bank.

MASSIVE FACE PALM. I am in the middle of no-where (Blae Drye GT-O d7-116). My only options are to continue to Colonia the long way (FSD without Neutron charging) or self destruct and rebuy.

You have to stop, jumping out of supercruise. You should be able to fix the FSD then. But you must be out of supercruise.

Ok sorry - you were out of supercruise ... duh me.

There are interim stations all the way to Colonia, so you are not stuffed by any means.

Oh Man....I would be so happy. I am such a noob. Spent a week or so preparing for this trip and I forget to hit the final PURCHASE button when sitting in the Outfitting screen. I must have exited without buying....cause i was sure it was there.

If you have installed a AFM of any size, it would show up in your right hand menus second catagory. Where as you can see all your mods, the sizes, and choose to activate or deactivate them in addition to changing their priority if and when your power limits are exceeded.

Provided that you installed one or more, it and or they will all be there. Though they never seem to be in any kind of order such as alphabetical or numerical. They should still be there.

I once thought I had installed a fuel scoop, which I knew I would need. Took off on my mission and when I needed to scoop, realized that I had forgotten to finalized the purchase, thus it was never installed. Fortunatly, a call to the fuel rats saved my. But the incident has caused me to make sure the next time I buy or switch mods to check that portion of the right hand menu to make sure, the mod was installed prior to leaving the dock and setting sail. Not a big deal if one is still in the bubble, but it is if and when one leaves the bubble.

If you stop at a few more of the intermediate stations, you may even be able to make the rest of the journey without the AFMU anyway.

I stopped at Rohini, Gandharvi and Kashyapa on my last trip, and never needed to use my AFMU at all (though this was with the built-in neutron plotter rather than the far more neutron-intensive routes that spansh generates, so you probably would need to stop more often)

UPDATE! 35 Jumps later I finally made it to Omega Mining Operation. Had a few sputters at 61% FSD. Had to shut down a few times and restart, but it turned out ok.

I was treated to some pretty amazing views for my trouble. I will post them as soon as I can.

Equipped a AFMU. Restocked. Refueled. Refreshed. Tonight I will continue my trek to Colonia.

I will post a couple times about my trip if anyone cares.
