General / Off-Topic Whos is biggest?

Opposing viewpoints and perspectives are fine, but if I find that these are expressed at a level I simply refuse to stoop down to, that person gets blocked and frankly, my intellectual prowess thanks me for it, because I now have more time to stimulate it with something more worthy of it. Like books, for example. This is, after all, a forum for a video game, so all things considered, I honestly doubt I'm missing out that much.

I agree to a point, the bit about just a forum for video games however I have to disagree. I have very fond memories from 1.1 / 1.2 era where threads like this were the norm:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/421287-Lore-General-Questions

Back then there were a lot of really wide open questions about history, living in 3301, technology, culture. Some real deep discussions, thought thought provoking responses about what could be and why it could happen that way. Then the offical lore from Drew and Frontier, digesting snippets we had and working out theories and guessing what was coming. Definitely one of the key reasons I stuck around as long as I have. Threads like the one I linked above are now very rare and often lay quite forgotten with merely a handful of responses when the usual "Game is doomed give me some attention" posts get 10+ pages of catfighting and bitterness. Quite a sad outlook for intelligent discussion whichever way you cut it :p

No not that, this is off-topic discussion. Comparing the size of those things is very much Dangerous Discussion!

I am talking about ignore lists. Who has used the feature the most. I'm at 428 and starting to think I'm no longer cut out for this place as certain threads are practically empty for me these days.

My list, names obviously removed for obvious reasons

Call me butthurt or whatever I don't really care. The main guiding rule I use is "Do I want to use my spare time to interact with this person?", if that's a no then on the list they go! I've been trying really hard lately not to respond to people who's comments I find distasteful or idiotic or whatever and simply to cut them out, not always managed it tbh. The only other people I put on the list are those who quit more than once. If your leaving then leave and don't be a drama queen every 30 minutes :p

Anyway, when I checked today I was rather surprised at the size of the list and wonder if I have the current record or not! Obviously someone could spend a few hours ignoring people to beat me if they were really that desperate but this is more curiosity than bragging rights :)

Why bother even participating in a forum that has so many people you literally can't be troubled to even see their presence? I mean, 400+ is a LOT. Compare that to my zero people on ignore.

Are you even reading this?

I seem to have five people on my ignore list, though I can only remember who three of them are. Mostly, I use such lists just to remind me that some people just aren't worth arguing with: they tend to be people who don't last long on the sort of forums I prefer. Which is to say ones you can have a rational debate on. Fortunately this is true here, if you avoid some subjects.

Pathetic E-Peen contest. I too wonder why on Earth the OP bothers? If you don't like a comment the scroll wheel on your mouse is very effective to bypass.

Look at me, I know I am better than you! is a rough translation of the OP's first post.

Here I only have 1 person blocked. That is because generally speaking the mods do a good job of keeping things civilized and the worst people tend to end up getting banned.

On reddit, my list is larger, probably because there are people who got themselves banned from here or know they can't behave here so instead just resort to insults in debates on reddit instead.

That's basically where i draw the line. If people can't debate without being insulting, then sooner or later they end up on my block list.

Have 28 blocked people on reddit.

Steam has zero blocked, because that function doesn't exist AFAIK.

I have more subsections of this forum on ignore than people, 5 people on ignore but I find it easier to just use the scroll button and move past post I dont want to read. Not even sure why I have anyone on ignore tbh, they tend to pop up in threads if someone quotes them so sort of defeats the purpose of it in the first place.

Only skim reddit, only vist steam forums if there is a link from a google search and I was looking for somthing, odd ive been on steam near on 10 years now. (not as lokvette tho, she only came into being about 5 years ago SWTOR and ED.)

How do you even have conversations, here? Reading the threads must be terribly confusing! :D

My ignore list contains three people and I already feel like I'm missing out. :)

Two or three...reserved only fer those who are beyond hope or redemption or so stuck up their own rear they have to brush their teeth after going to the toilet.

Doesnt bother me if someone has me blocked or not...literally couldnt care less their problem not mine and it would never have any sorta effect on what I say or how or to whom ^

I use to have massive ignore list but decided to not do that anymore - creating fake positive echo chamber for my opinions is not a good idea imo. So unless someone will personally attack me or such, no one on my ignore list so far.

Mine would be probably the same of even bigger, but as a mod I cannot allow myself the luxury :p ;)
