Hardware & Technical I Can't Describe How Angry I Feel.....

OK. If you had put even a fraction of the time into your first post that you have put into these responses then you might have received more help.

I actually thought, considering how many posts you have on this forum, that it was a complete wind up. My eek was when I found out it wasn't.

Your post was essentially blaming the game and FD for your lack of knowledge about how a PC works, the results of your botched attempts to fix it, and how the game should auto-magically fix all of this.

You have my sympathy that your rig has gone back for repair but this forum is not a PC support forum nor is it the place to be trained on how each component interacts. The fact that the game works at all considering what you had been doing to your system is testament to how efficiently FD code so you probably should be thanking them.

Please, learn what things do before you break any more of your father's computers. If you don't know how it works, ask him and if he doesn't know ask someone that does but please don't do it here. It is not your personal support desk and you are not entitled to anything other than support on the game itself.

Sorry but sarcasm is absolutely required when somebody approaches it how you did.

LOL, My 14 year old did just that. Wanted to to download Planetside 2, he has a PC in his room that can't play it, so I was supposed to download it it where? oh yes on my PC, in my home office, which the kids are not allowed in. Then to be allowed to play at his leisure, or wait maybe argue with his other 2 brothers who would see what he was doing and want a go too!! So mu little zone of "Mine all mine" becomes the latest battleground for brothers!!

nah flea, ear, away he went. To be fair he does have a PC, Xbox 360, PS4, My really nice dell 22 inch monitor 'cos his would not work with the PS4 (some hdmi issue), so its not like he is bereft of electronic entertainment.

I think you are completed justified in your anger at both the game and your father's ridiculously poor gaming setup.

It is every teenager?'s right to have everything on demand at the time that they demand it.

FD you should be ashamed at yourselves. Commander Mick here deserves respect; it's his human right!

Micky boy. March up to your Father right now and ask, nay DEMAND that he sort out his pathetic setup this instant.

That will get you results and hopefully you will enhance your gaming skills by playing while standing up in future.

Look.....

To answer your first paragraph...I was too tired to type anything more elaborate at the time. You can see how lengthy those last three posts of mine are. Well, they took quite a while to write. This business of facing one irrelevant obstacle after another is really getting to me.

In answer to your second paragraph. No, it's like really happening to me.

In answer to your third paragraph....Well....I looking at everything. As there appears to be intellect that is preventing me from either getting far in the game or to even play it at all. I guess I tend to see all my problems with computers at the moment coming from the one source. I'm also suspicious about a forum that takes a hard line against my use of the english language and swearing even when they have the facility to censor it. Otherwise, I'm not altogether sure I put the blame on the code I've been sent.

You fourth paragraph....My other rig should be back very soon. Tonight even.
Considering, what I've been doing to the system????
I've been taking great care with the computer. I merely deleted some files that turned out to be essential to running this game. Can't help it if virus gets past the protective software.

Your Fifth Paragragh....I didn't break the computer. I correctly replaced the missing files and my other problem has to do with what might a poorly positioned router or some other I'm not so sure about. As for the other computers disappearing hard0drive. This beyond me, but I suspicious of virus that may have caused this to happen. Yet, I'm not pointing the finger at anybody about this. One can only guess.

I'm 42, and still living wit my dad. I'm also without a woman and haven't layed hands or anything else of my person on the lady-parts of one in ages.

To be fair to the OP this was posted in "Off-Topic > Off-Topic Discussion > Hardware & Technical Forum"
(unless it was moved)

I don't think it was any criticism of Elite Dangerous.

Mick, I would be interested to know the CPU, RAM and GPU

Windows 8 took me while to get used to but anyway..

To get that basic info:>

mouse over to the bottom right corner and select "settings",
then "PC info".
Will give you basic info RAM cpu,

or open control panel and select "system".

or right click in a file explorer window on the "my PC" icon at the left,
and select properties.

Sometimes instead of being angry it's just better to walk away and calm down a bit. I find that doing something else for a while then coming back to a problem usually helps a heck of a lot.

My Officical Gaming Computer Has Been Fixed!!!!

Now that's it's been returned from the shop.

The two terra byte hard drive has been replaced/reinstalled and nothing else on the computer has been touched.

Right now, I'm having problems accessing the original build of the game beta. So I can delete it and install the last two updates that occurred while it was being fixed.

I have had to change my password two to three times and the forum here is only excepting the password that I was sent before I attempted to change it a third time round.

I can't access the game. Every time I try to login from the official game launcher.... I get this message....

Unexpected Response From Server - Bad Request

Not sure If I need to ask for another password or what...

This has been ticketed as well.

Those of you who keep reminding me that I need serious computer skills to tackle the obstacles preventing me from accessing/playing my game.

You should properly read the three long posts I put up here the day before yesterday... as I did explains words to the effect that I just don't have advanced computer skills and there are no places I can go to learn without having a diploma in this.

So, I'm one of the dumb kids, but I been using computers in there various incarnations since my early teen years.

While I know how to install/use most software and especially play games. I also know basic internet use and have been about to register account s on many sites. While my knowledge fails to be in any way so advanced that I can breeze through it all with flying colours.

Partically, the stuff that requires advanced maths and programming skills
and knowledge of programming software.

I do know some of the ancient language of BASIC (Which is now most probably defunct!) and also some HTML. I know how to apply titles to
links on most internet forum as well as put up images, use italics and bold too.

Yet that's really it for me. I am seriously thinking about learning how to use C++ language (I think that is what it is called!) and learning Machine-Code (Not just how to use the advanced software most programming use today, but the computer language that allows you to program that software! What ever it is...) I would have loved to have the skills to join the team at Frontier-Developments and help with the game. Yet, I don't have those advanced skills and I live in Australia.

So, when giving advice towards the problems I'm having now. Please don't remind me that I need to upgrade my computer skills in ways that I couldn't possibly be doing without being excepting into place that seriously want to teach me. I can only learn it little by little here. Yet, the knowledge required to overcome the obstacles thrown in my way of playing this game over the last week and the couple of times before then requires the advanced computer know-how of a team and not just me and my father (When he does help!) .

I just want to get to fight in the game without fighting to get there in the first place. These problems that have arisen before me test me in ways that are cruel and unnatural. It's only turning me into a bigger <REDACTED>than I already am.

I notice the Nemesis themed avatar from the last person who replied before me only now. Are you a frequent user of the official 2000AD Online forums. If you are...then you may know me as ThryllSeekyr.

ThryllSeekyr.

Umm... Yeah... C++ is a good language to program in, and to learn as it is syntaxually similar to how we speak, and once you learn it you can read the code and see what is going on logically. However I feel as though you, me, and the rest of the world would struggle with Machine-Code... Since every processor handles it differently, and you are going to be dealing with Binary and Hexadecimal characters that you will need to translate to be able to use it... Maybe it's because my college education is focused mostly on the networking security side of the house, but the lowest level language we had to learn was assembly, even that was kind of tough to do.

Try a community college course in C++ I'm sure that will help you out. Actually most community colleges in my area offer A+ classes this sounds like where you may want to start. Learn how to build a computer, and configure windows and why drivers need to be installed... Heck I'm sure you will even learn some linux in an A+ class. This is where people with little hardware experience should start.

Hope everything works for you now, and remember blaming the developers for an alpha or beta program that causes problems, is like blaming your neighbor's breathing for global warming.

THANK YOU!!!! I always suspected it was the neighbours' fault.

Hi Mick,

Sorry you're having so many issues of late!
I'm not the tech support person others are I'm sure but I'd like to help a little if I can.
First, on the launcher. They've upgraded it again. Make sure you downloaded latest launcher from your downloadable products.
Also, for info on my system I find typing dxdiag into the run box on windows start menu to give me great info. System on first tab and graphics on second.
Make sure you disable any anti-virus app when downloading. At least for me it hangs at the end then fails to validate.
I suspect you'll get it all sorted soon.
Keep posting your obstacles with as much info as you can.
I'm certain someone will try to help with great info.
When all else fails do a search for specific things (ie. reinstalling video drivers for Xyzzy, etc.). You may have to sift through replies here to glean good info but I'm confident it will come. Remember, the more you can describe (including system info, OS, GPU, etc, the more good help you will likely receive.
Hope to see you back in game soon!
