Well Zaphod, as you said, many of those things are a result of similarities already existing in the game. Although I feel "you want losses to matter" is reaching.

If those are your indicators of ED moving towards Eve, I'm not worried in the slightest about ED moving towards Eve. Wake me up when indicators indicate other players preventing me from going into systems and stations. When groups start dominating. :)

Didnt we (you and I) discuss how player groups and factions can influence your game through the BGS and PP a few months back?

Nah, not really. Fdev knows who have a bad connection. And Fdev sure can determine whether connection to game servers were interrupted.
They cannot shadowban for it. Yet they can surely withdraw bonus on transactions in progress. As long as opting for that bonus in an optional feature.

You can keep a perfect connection to the game servers while refusing connections to other peers.
Frontier won't know why the connection is refused, they just know it was.

One thing you can do is follow security advice from: https://www.grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm
This improves your PC security and cuts out a massive chunk of players from Elite: Dangerous.

Open gets a whole safer if you have tight security on your PC.

So as I said, Frontier won't waste time trying to figure out who is trying to fiddle a bonus in Open - they just won't give the bonus, it's less work for them.

I know what you are talking about. And disbalance in p2p connections between players in one system can be made/is detectable.

Yes, but the reason for it is not is what I'm saying.

Some people just have bad connections.
I have a family who all love Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Music and Spotify - my connection can go from great to poor in under a minute.
Others have secure networks due to personal reasons.
Some people use their settings to cheat in games.
Lots of folks have no idea how to set up their network, so it may not work properly.

All these configs can and will reject connections.
So while the one cheating does not deserve any bonus, the others didn't do anything wrong - so they should get the bonus for at least trying.

The problem is Frontier does not know why a connection is rejected - they only know it was.

Yet they still can make people to abide certain qualifications for that bonus.
And this was elaborated as well. As long as one person have everything set up all right, they still can see you.

Right, so you want a bonus for specific actions in Open not all actions in Open?

So tell me what actions in Open deserve a bonus and if PvP PGs should also get the bonus

That isn't true. A person can be in Open and "invisible" to everyone if they set up their computer correctly.
It's easy to do, there are plenty of guides and advice on Google to do it.

Not at all. The economy in EO is still player driven. But it tends to work like a real economy as far as I can tell. In as much as supply and demand are the driving factors anyway. And we aren't getting a player driven economy in ED. That has been made abundantly clear, even though it would improve the game dramatically.

Another part of ED that will never be EO like.

Find me a single instance of PG with inconsensual PvP, and I might start discussing this topic.
And not in infuence. Check out other topic. Mods do not want to merge those two for some reason.

While there are many new PvE experiences waiting in Battle for Azeroth, there are also some new PvP updates for players to look forward to.

In a new Battleground, Seething Shore, players of the Horde and Alliance will descend upon Silithus to battle over the Azerite bubbling to the surface. This Battleground will offer dynamic control point gameplay similar to Arathi Basin, but with new control points appearing periodically as resources are depleted. This new Battleground will require coordination as you and your team work to overcome the opposing faction. Since this Battleground actually serves to tell part of the story that leads to the events of Battle for Azeroth, we also plan to offer a preview of the Seething Shore during patch 7.3.5 as we continue to build upon the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance for the coming expansion.

Beyond instanced PvP, we’re also reexamining how PvP plays out in the outdoor world. The PvP system hasn’t fundamentally changed since the launch of World of Warcraft; however, so many other systems that shape the world, ranging from flying mounts to cross-realm zones, have changed the way players interact. We’ve heard feedback lamenting the decline of world PvP over the years. Meanwhile, there are players on PvP servers who don’t necessarily enjoy that gameplay, but also don’t want to switch servers and leave their friends behind. Looking ahead to Battle for Azeroth, this feels like a great opportunity to update the PvP system to better reflect the state of the game world today.

The core of our plan lies in bringing all servers together under a single PvP ruleset. Players will ultimately be able to choose on an individual basis whether they want to opt in to PvP gameplay or not. While in a capital city, you’ll be able to opt into world PvP, and you will venture out into a PvP-enabled version of the world, populated by other players who have also opted in to PvP gameplay. This also provides a universal foundation upon which we can build new world PvP systems that previously would have inherently excluded everyone playing on a PvE realm.

For those who do opt in to the PvP experience, there will be some slight bonuses such as extra experience gain or reputation gain to offset the additional risk. The nature and magnitude of these bonuses will undergo extensive tuning, with the goal of not making anyone feel obligated to participate in PvP if they dislike that gameplay, while counterbalancing the loss in efficiency for those who do.

And again, I remind that PvP deaths in WoW make you lose nothing but your time.

Easy, my mate Cosmic made it clear in his PG he will attack us if he "bumps" into us.
(We are on his friends list, he can find us when ever he wants to shoot us)

So there you go, someone who has a PG where joining the PG makes you a target, just like Open.
And Cosmic isn't the only person who runs a PvP PG.

So now tell me, what "special" actions can you do that you want a bonus for doing?
And should people in PvP PGs get that same bonus, if not then why not?

And everything you do has influence on the BGS.
Buy some gear, you take stock from that station - which can be the last item and stop someone in PG / Solo from buying that same item there.
Buy something from the market and PG / Solo see their stock levels drop and NPC influence change.
Kill a pirate in a RES or pick a side in a CZ, and the PG/Solo player will feel the faction changes.

So everything you do, everyone else can feel.

20 pages for me :p

And people say I spam The Wall of Information, at least I've never done it 3 times in 90 minutes :p

I was talking about inconsensual PvP. Your example does not qualify.
And I am not talking about anything that excludes monetary gain when I am talking about that bonus. So it would not mean anything in BGS sense.

Yes it does, as every action to gain credits, impacts the BGS.

Buy something, it changes stock levels and prices for everyone.
Sell something, it changes stock levels and prices for everyone.

Hand a mission in and the local faction rep changes for everyone.
Kill a pirate / trader / police ship and it impacts the local faction rep for everyone.

Even selling exploration data changes local faction rep for everyone.

You cannot earn credits without having an impact on everyone else in the the game.
This is the basic function of the game, you cannot talk about a bonus if you don't know how the game works.

BGS is transactional. It means value of your actions does not mean jack. So...
