I dont get why everyone thinks Ellite is such a grind

But presumably your Gaming experience isn't complete if you've say merely unlocked Guardian Gauss Cannon to help with Thargoid Combat (You'll easily end up with 4+ Weapon Blueprints merely from the Ram Tah Mission)...Presumably its only enjoyable if you (in a vaguely OCD fashion) unlock access to Meta Alloy HRPs AND Gauss/Plasma/Shard Weapons AND Power Plants/Distro's/FSD Boosters AND...AND...AND...
Then you wonder why the game feels "grindy"

Awesome, let's name call players who want to unlock the game's content. If you think this behavior is either bad or unexpected then you simply have no clue about the average player.

Also, doing the Ram Tah mission will get you 0 (zero) blueprints.

Likely : forever. Assuming you play "naturally" as you say, then the only way to "stumble" on guardian sites where the data is present are :

1) Exploration and dumb luck. Collect one data and keep going. Mabye find a few sites. I think it's possible that someone could unlock one module or one weapon that way.
2) Doing ram tah second mission. You might get enough data for a weapon xor module or maybe not. Depends on luck and what sites one is visiting.

So, doing it in a natural manner will lead you to 1 or 2 modules if lucky.

The chances of randomly stumbling on 60 guardian sites with data points is... low. To say the least.

They include puzzles that are hard and take effort for players like the cannon group who enjoy puzzling it out in the first place, for any of us who don't like doing that cannon share the information anyway. So it's content that caters to both, or all.

I think I'm the current record holder for being called names in relation to the guardian unlocks, because I've been positive about it and unlocked some stuff whilst not grinding and enjoying myself.

I don't care about the other modules. I got the gauss cannon and count myself Lucky. Maybe I'll fit it on my FDL and go for some thargoid action. Or not.
This beyond the point.

What I care about is that the chose to add a whole bunch of guardian modules, and then provided a rather good quality and enjoyable quest to go with it,
only to have the latter not unlock the former.

The mission gets you nowhere close to unlocking more than one module if Lucky. Frankly, doing it once was great. Twice ? Or grind the site ? Hell no.

Do I need to point out how bad this is as far as design goes ? Was it that hard to price module more reasonably ? Or learn from all the open world adventure games
of the last 10 years ?

This is 100% intentional and it really sucks.

Also : don't presume to know how other play and what they are looking for in the game. Projecting prejudice to build strawmens is both hillarious and pricky.

Hard puzzles ? Are you kidding me ?

Tell you what was a hard puzzle : cracking the thargoid probe code. That was hard (and fun).

Activating a bunch of pylons *hardly* counts as a puzzle. Let's stay real here and not kid ourselves.
Doing it 20 times does not make it harder. It makes it boring.

Yeah, it was kind of a rhetorical question really. Since the mats traders arrived I've been scanning every USS I come across during normal play. I tend to drop into Encoded and Combat Aftermaths every time and the very very few High Grade that I've seen always get a visit. I've also started scooping up the remains of dead NPCs. This all helps a bit but it's not filling up the G5 mats that I need.

I also suspect that I'm just trading 'concentrated grind' for distributed grind. So rather than sucking it up for a couple of hours to go HGE hunting for Imperial Shield or whatever i happen to need for my next project, I'm spreading that time out doing something that's still not what I'm interested in doing, but in smaller chunks. And I'm still not getting the mats I need...

Things are better, but they're not best.

If you're SO task focused that you merely Land, scan the required obelisks and move onto the next structure...but seriously why WOULD anyone visit a new Guardian Structure without powering it up and watching the light show???

I was talking about cannon finding all the sites in relation to you complaining it wouldn't happen otherwise, finding all the sites was the puzzle I was referring to.

And you don't need to do it 20 times, or even once for that matter.

I did and enjoyed it. But seriously why would anyone do it ~60 times?

You mean reading the galnet article giving the first 3 systems right. Letters and words are puzzling.

Cannon efforts in data collection capabilities are amazing. It does not make it a puzzle.

[weird]

Are you sure you weren't referring to the bug in the new Ram Tah mission which gave everybody blueprints, along with all sorts of other mat's, whenever they scanned an obelisk?

Cos it sounds like you're referring to the bug in the new Ram Tah mission which gave everybody blueprints, along with all sorts of other mat's, whenever they scanned an obelisk.

The Pylon puzzle is an addition which extends the difficulty range of the repertoire. Something like that which is comparatively on the very easy side has been needed so that there's something pretty much everyone can just do for themselves without needing external resources or specialist knowledge.

(I'm just talking about the Pylon puzzle in of itself here btw, not in terms of it's relation to the module/weapon unlocks.)

It's just loose wording. 2 Ram Tah missions:

1. Decoding the Ancient Ruins

2. Decrypting the Guardian Logs

The second involves going to the new sites which feature the Pylon puzzle.

The first doesn't have to be done at the new sites. Couldn't say for sure whether it can or can't be done at the new sites as well.

2 weeks 4 days and 16 hours played. I have a Cutter and I expect her to be fully engineered by the end of tonight. Im still saying some players out there have the ability to make this game easy. Its about us working together to help the newer ones become more veteran to ever aspect of Elite...If they want to.

Edit: DAMMIT!!! Forgot about Lori Jameson. SCB and Life support will not be engineered tonight. Lol

True, one can just uninstall the game and let the grey beards continue to explain how it all works and continue to indicate the developer actually building any actual reasons for anything is inherently evil and should be discouraged at all costs (and why can't people just play correctly) you mean?

It's perfectly possible to recognise repetition exits, and that developing reasons for doing said repetition, aren't mutually exclusive. I wouldn't mind them trying, either way. Doesn't change the end result, but it might improve the experience?

It's okay, I know you don't agree and stark, endless repetition with no experience is fine because that's what you wanted and Frontier are quite good at that, to be fair. All good.

I agree with you, if you don't like the game you should uninstall it immediately. Anything else means you are doing it wrong.

Good luck with your next purchase, perhaps a little reading prior to buying would be advantageous.

What if I like the game? Also endlessly suggesting people uninstall is not a growth strategy that keeps servers powered on (thankfully the store is probably helping do that).

I was a kickstarter backer. I knew exactly what I was getting; we haven't got it. Expecting a little more from the developer than endless repetition, isn't a fault state from a consumer perspective.

Don't play games you don't like isn't controversial advice.

Then you know kickstarters are a gamble, or you do now anyway.

I'll ignore the rest of the arrogance, it has no value in the discussion. Be polite. Try.

You are going with name calling because you can't think of a coherent polite argument.

Edit : lol at you back editing your posts
