Modes Open Mode Balancing Proposal... Open PvE

PvP players have had an advantage since the game's release in being able to engage targets at will, and all they've done since is complain about the BGS, PP and other aspects of multiplayer. Meanwhile, PvE players have to resort to utilizing Private Groups in order to play without harassment from PvP players.

I'm quite sure FD would see a lot more gratitude from PvE players for providing such an experience, enjoying what they've been given instead of the attitude displayed by some who can't apparently see they've been given an entire sandbox and can do nothing but complain about how others play their game.

I propose adding PvP/PvE flagging by utilizing the Wings mechanic that exists in the game (thus eliminating a need for reworking the entire game) by using the threshold to flag participation in PvP. Similar to other games that use a consensual flag, unless a player explicitly toggles on PvP, they're unable to take damage from other players.

Private Groups would then no longer be a "necessity" for PvE players who don't wish to engage in direct PvP in Open. This proposal would not detract from PvP players in Open- as those who wish to engage in PvP in Open already do so, but rather add to the experience for everyone else who would like a much simpler system to group up and experience the game together.

The advantage of this would also be twofold, as it would expand participation in Open- allowing for a more populated experience for everyone involved.

I'd also like to see Solo players be able to utilize NPC's as a balance to the existing Wings system that's available to Open/PG's players so that force multiplication is available in all modes, and not just the two multiplayer modes available.

IMO - it's time that PvE players received some much needed attention from FD, instead of constantly trying to cater to a group of players that do nothing but complain about what they've been given.

Solo wings - useless because NPCs are incompetent.

PVE flags - over my dead body / escape pod
Cancer that will be abused by solo underminers.

Without PvP a lone cmdr is the best pilot in the galaxy, we cant have that, NPCs are a joke, only resistance comes from other players.

I dont want to see players flying infront of me that I can't shoot, it kills my immersion.
Same for solo underminers, Fdev better do something about indirect griefers.

All these threads with their whinging and moaning make me want to start undermining in Solo.

It sounds almost as much fun as seal clubbing.

Almost, just let me know who you are planning to undermine and I will gladly help you.

Based off past comments by FD, an Open PvE mode or PvP/PvE flags are not likely.

Open was designed to be the free for all mode, and PvPers have their playground, its how the game was sold.

We can use the same arguments we use when PvPers request special attention against such PvE proposals.

If they wanna flag, thats cool. But they shouldnt be able to influence other systems. Trade, Credit farming is just fine. Just remove the influence options if you arent flagged.

There ya go.

Phekda. Lots of Indirect PVP there.

All the ‘flag’ ideas are poor. This one, Egy’s open bonus and a separate Open PvE mode.

A flag only has to be added once, bur it has to be checked in a thousand places, in the code.
We are talking major, expencive development, with huge potential for bugs and exploits, for basically no change in gamplay.

I seriously doubt FD are even considering anything like this.

You mean apart from the two entire nurseries game modes where you won't ever have to encounter the meanieheads if you don't want to, yet can still influence everything in the game?

How much handholding do you need?

The best way to fix this PvP harassment is to have the actual CMDR as a target mission appearing in the missions board with their real-time location showing on the galaxy map.

I would even go as far to suggest that when a CMDR bounty hunting mission appears on the board, that it should be a wing mission, so a player faction or minor wing can have fun and a chance of fighting against some uber PvP pilot in an uber ship.

It would change the PvP game and add more game play content to the game.

This would be the best karma system and would fix this issue of non-consensual PvP.

A new type of crime and punishment dealt by actual players who like the PvP part instead of senseless griefing.

Also having CMDR bounty hunting wing missions would probably be a good enough ploy to get rid of Solo and Private modes and just have it all OPEN mode.

Kind a bit like in GTA Online. You can turn on passive mode, but you are limited in what you can do. That could work, but still don't think FD will go for it.

Not sure if you will get any indirect PvP there. Not sure who is active at the moment. I'm on a break, playing Fortnite for the moment. Might be just pure PvE you end up doing.

Robert, you active in Phekda at the moment?

We prefer Phekda police ;)

Fortnite is cool. The battle royale is a bit like PUBG. The 50 vs 50 battles are fun. Free for all is good. Sometimes play squads with the kids. Don't tend to play squads with randoms though, either get idiots, people well ahead of me on the skill curve, or that 1 person who has their mic set ultra-sensetive and you can hear the dog barking and music etc and you have to mute them.

Last week though i've been playing Save the World, coop PvE, which is good fun as well. Actually prefer it to battle royale, but its a grind, fair warning. Most people are cool though. Had the odd player throw me a top tier weapon, it does promote cooperation, as the better weapon you have the higher score the team gets, and therefore better rewards.

Anyway, very off topic now. Recommend you give it a look. Battle Royale is free, so it will cost you nothing to check it out.

For those who did not buy the game for PvP it's not handholding - as participating in that entirely optional play-style is up to each and every player, by design - just as affecting the game is part of the intended experience for all players (i.e. not just those in Open).
