The Magic Wish List

If the FDev Genie granted you 1 wish what would it be? Presume your upgrade does not break any existing game play balancing and usage/participation in this new feature is optional.

1. Space Legs
2. Atmospheric Landings
3. Player owned bases
4. Exploration improvement to gameplay depth?
5. Mining improvement?
6. Combat improvement?
7. Manual Way-points (e.g. Planetary coordinates)
8...

These are things I've seen requested by the player community for which there has been little to no feedback from FDev about a release date or if they are interested in working on, hence the need for a "Genie".

Pretty sure they did say they're working on these two, and gave a release date of Q4 2018.

I believe 4 & 5 are upcoming, so I'll skip those!

Atmospheric planets would be my #1 preference - I'm looking forward to the day when we can dive into the atmospheres of gas giants or fly down those lava filled canyons on those weird HMCs you see near stars or buzz the waves on a ocean planet. IMO it would "complete" the space bit of the game that we could finally go everywhere (or close anyway).

Very easy - single player offline game mode that is open for modding. With community this passionate I can imagine modders adding base building/autopilot/flyable capital ships/star trek mod - you name it.

8. Light status indicator (in other word a little light on the dashboard/HUD so you can tell if your lights are on or off) or better external lights.

I know it's a minor thing but people have been asking for this little QoL addition almost as long as they've asked for fluffy dice.

Such a small ask. And what we are not aware of is behind the scenes in the bowels of FDev software basement offices, scores of coding monkeys working day and night for the past 3 years to implement this seemingly simple feature only to cause a cascade failure in the testing environment every time this is enabled. Such a waste, careers ruined. Alas, the world will never know.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
All of those are good, except for combat improvements. IMHO combat is already in a good place (ignoring for the moment issues with PvP and Engineering). Combat is visceral and fun. It's good already.

I'd rather have all the rest of the stuff on your list. :)

A fleet carrier for individuals - I would fly many more ships if I could bring them with me in a carrier, the time/cost of transferring ships means I mainly use an Anaconda for everything, which is a shame. With a fleet carrier I would own more ships and so buy more paint jobs etc from Frontier.

This is an interesting distinction. I didn't put Fleet Carrier on my list because i thought it was already in the works for release this year. So the fleet carrier in the works is not owned by a single player? How is that supposed to work?

Rep is not enough. Will you marry me?

A wide variety of careers you can sign up to and then work towards.

Psycho killer qu est-ce que?

Career! Including terrorist modules, an engineer and bases.

Bounty hunter?
Career! End stages you can Holo me into any security ship and plug those pirates - galaxy wide!

Build an empire, modules to upgrade capacity, add a rear turret to T7s etc etc.

Explorer?
Scanners to find highly sought after materials, or a reason to explore beyond pretty pictures.

Economic overhaul, persistent NPCs.

Private detective style NPC hunts.

A good point, I must admit I thought the fleet carrier in the works is basically a "guild" ship, i.e. meant for wings rather than individuals? In some other games, guild halls have to be claimed by a group of people (like wings). Hopefully, it will turn out that individuals can obtain/buy the fleet carriers as well.... we will have to wait and see I guess.

Took an SRV out in VR yesterday, for the first time in ages. Having spent a lot of time recently staring at a monitor while surface mining, I couldn't help noticing how much more impressive an experience being in the SRV in VR is.

For ten minutes, by which time I was in a cold sweat. I quit before I got sick.

Surface Reconnaissance Skimmer, please, Frontier, for your loyal but nauseous VR audience.
