General / Off-Topic Finally Motorcycle weather- do you cruise with tunes?

I've never ridden while wearing earbuds, I don't think it's safe.
That being said, I might be interested in doing so on longer trips, when not battling cars, vans, trucks for my life, ie., in the country.
I wear an Arai signature helmet, great air flow, which means more noise than no air flow, I believe there's room for buds.
I'd want to stream from an android device that has SD card installed with my whole library.
So what do you guys/gals use? Wired? Wireless?
Brand?

To each their own of course, but I'd never ride with music and headphones. Just too distracting for me, and no easy, instant, waterproof and inexpensive way for control.

I did have a couple of helmets with built-in Bluetooth comms for when the GF wanted to take her 250 out, or even pillion with me - but she no longer rides after a bit of a scare, and if I'm honest with myself, my bike is now in such a state that she probably won't make it past this summer.

I don't own a motorcycle. I probably wouldn't mind listening to tunes while horseback riding, but my horse isn't fond of my taste in music. :D

Like I said in another OT thread; I live in a tropical climate.

What you get here is IDIOTS who ride around in a pair of shorts, thongs and a t-shirt. All I can think of when I see this is that, when they end up going a different direction down the road to the bike because they have dropped it, the skin grafts they will need will be truly horrific.

I don't care how hot it gets, proper safety equipment/clothing is essential..... also situation awareness.

All the gear, all the time.

It's the quick mid-party half-mile trip to the shops to pick up some buns and hotdogs in your barbeque outfit that gets you made into hamburger :(

If you go to a Bike show you can get rubber poured in your earholes ...well whatever turns you on.

The result is a set of earplugs moulded for your own personal ears with an airhole in them that can transmit anything with a 3.5 jack. I found it handy for hearing SatNav instructions over a very very loud engine.

I have used earbuds, they work fine as long as you don't knock them when putting your lid on. Personally, it doesn't feel safe though in town and of course you need to stop to change tracks or adjust the volume etc. Sometimes I use the GPS on my phone but only have one ear bud in so I can listen to the instructions and also hear what's going on around me. Running headphones, the ones with the over the ear clip might work nicely.

After looking around, I don't think buds are the right product, looking at mic/speaker comms system that tie into the phone that also can double for listening to tunes.
Again, solely for those long rides with zero traffic (ie upstate NY I'm looking at you). @ 65mph+ I'd like a break from the wind noise every once in a while.

Like the sound of the engine, that is music enough....

I use bluetooth comms to talk to other riders on the way to events such as Daytona Bike Week or Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. No time for music given all the four wheel traffic wanting to kill me!. Any idiot can get a driver's license in the USA. They will be eating a Big Mac, flirting with their girlfriend, listening to their 1200 watt car stereo system and run me over before ever seeing me!

Wow, that's quite the extreme switch!
How does your back like the new ride?
Approaching 50, I wanted something comfortable, especially after checking out ducati, & seeing a young fellow at a stop light stretching out the pain in his lower back.
I went to sport tourer after seeing that.

oh Ninja, I like it! the FB100RR is my favorite, and I'm as old as one can get without falling totally apart, but I still need that speed....

The chopper was about attitude and style. With the long wheelbase it did not like tight turns. I loved the tuned exhaust pipes but no four wheelers could hear them until after I passed them. So much for safety. Anyway I grew up.

The 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is much more maneuverable thus a lot safer in heavy traffic. It is an ED Vulture versus an Anaconda chopper. It has a 'stand up' riding position which is more comfortable versus my arms stretched out on the chopper. Great for long comfortable rides. Larger Kawasaki bikes go to the cafe racing position. Not my favorite. You are age 50? I'm age 67! This bike will outlast me and keep me out of trouble.
