General / Off-Topic Busted 52 joystick need advicet

So it seems my X52 has developed issues over my transporting of imperial slaves for the cg. Mid flight it decided it was siding with the indentured souls in my hold and disengaged itself from what ever widget centres and controls the Yaw function. As a result the joystick is now slacker than the loyalty of an arsenal fan and my ship drives as if it’s just been on a three day booze fest.

Im willing to strip down and see if I can reattach the recalcitrant widget but thought I’d ask if anyone else has suffered a similar issue and how they fixed it first, especially as my exploratory surgery is just as likely to cause a further fatal injury than it is to fix the problem.

as always ty for any helpful posts.

actually scrap it. I’ve managed to find the several dozen prior posts on this issue with the 52. A quick read through has made it blatantly obvious any repair attempt is well beyond my meagre skills. The joystick is a bust and as other things have dibs on my pocket money for the next few months it seems I’m involuntarily grounded. Now if you will excuse me I need to go for a little cry.

Hey, you can still TRY to repair it. If you screw it up, well, you wil have to buy a new one, which you would do, anyway. You can't lose.

If you're buying a new stick, keep the throttle and just buy something like T16000M. It's sturdy and altogether nice, but the throttle in the FCS HOTAS pack isn't as good as the x52 one.

If it's just the yaw function, it could be as simple as relocating a spring. Or replacing the spring. Locating a replacement spring is the issue :(

Also try locking and unlocking the yaw stopper at bottom left a few times - it's been known to do funny things.

I concur. I use a T-16000 stick with the X-52 Throttle. They make a nice set.

I’ve watched a few videos on what’s required to repair/replace the spring the only outcome I can see ends with me applying the liberal use of a hammer. I’ve looked at a possible replacement stick including the T16000m, the issue I’ve got after 2yrs and several thousand flying hours is The placement of toggles/switches. With the 52 it’s simply muscle retention, I’m that used to that layout the right hand almost moves without instruction. I’m leaning toward simply waiting a couple of months till I can get another 52 instead of breaking in a new stick.

as always thanks for taking time to read and reply.

I hope you can fix it.

I like the layout of the X-52. I'm just waiting until I hear that Logitech fixed the reliability issues.

You can always call Logitech and ask them for repair/replacement.

X52 will always have issues so long as it "sticks" to the spring and plastic cup design.

Yeah, that design is just a failure waiting to happen. It doesn't even feel good.

Ah, remember the golden age of flight sims and joysticks? Microsoft Force Feedback sticks, Saitek not being crap,... Those were the days. :(
