The parallel thread on the main discussion forum got to 28 pages in 3 days before the same three or four people (who are against the Cobra mkIV being released) started bickering between themselves and got the thread locked.
I hope this forum thread stays open and we can continue to make our case for the Cobra mkIV being made available to PS4.

It seems to me that all the arguments against PS4 players getting this ship are weak & selfish. I don't see how there can be any issue with FD releasing it on the same basis as they did for the other two platforms.
The main arguments against PS4 getting it appear to be:
1. It was released as an incentive to pre-order Horizons in the first year
- PS4 is still in it's first year
2. Forever means forever.
- and indeed it would remain so on the other platforms. How does releasing this ship on PS4 have any impact on Xpox/PC players?
3. You missed the offer, so tough.

So, no, there really isn't a good reason why FD can't release it on the PS4. To my mind, if they don't, it pretty much confirms my earlier comments that FD never intended to release on the PS4, but realised there was money to be had. Whilst they continue to ignore our appeals, it is clear to me that we will remain 'forever' the poor relations in this universe.

I've long since concluded that we PS4 players are the poor relations and simply added to the fold as a cash generator. If this wasn't the case, FD would have made an effort and given us the CIV by now.
I just got a bit fed up with all the dismissive post recently, so I figured I'd pull the main arguments together to show how easy it is to refute claims that FD can't give it to us.

I've been gaming a long time and certainly from Day One when Sony introduced trophies. I reckon one of my greatest gaming achievement was becoming Elite without dying in the original 1984 Beeb version of Elite. Changes the way you play the game for sure. Still got that game, too.

This all boils down to being able to getting Frontier into a place where they can justify releasing the Cobra mkIV to either the PS4 community or playerbase as a whole.

Sorry, I don't agree. The other player groups have had their chance, PS4 players haven't, which is why this thread persists. I don't see how FD can release the CIV into the wild for everyone without breaking their word. However, as I argued in my earlier post, I believe they can release it to PS4 players, under the same terms, without doing this.
I would love to be able to own a Cobra MkIV and I agree, the lack of opportunity for PS4 commanders to own one doesn’t fit with their argument for not re-releasing it.
But I also appreciate that this far from launch, the amount of noise, salt and indignation generated in the PC and Xbox communities if the PS4 was the only group to be given open access to a Cobra MkIV would be too difficult for Frontier to handle. Frontier would need to give something to them to placate those platforms (which in turn would start a cycle of PS4 commanders wanting that as well).
It is for this reason, and this reason alone, why I think the Cobra MkIV will be released to all or no-one.

We know that the Krait is coming as part of either the Q2 or Q3 drop so for minimal coding the Cobra mkIV could easily fill the fourth slot.
Frontier have now demonstrated a track record of correcting anomalies that make their codebase non optimal (e.g. MAC from beyond 3.3, availability of the special day programme, correction of the engineering mod abuse) so removing the code that prevents players from accessing the Cobra MkIV could be presented as a similar move.

You're absolutely right about that (and rightly so), but I wasn't advocating free access to all on PS4. FD should release it to anyone who pre-ordered ED:H. This should be easy to check for digital orders, perhaps a touch more difficult for others (but not impossible?). Another alternative is to make it available to anyone who played the game within a week of release.
But since the other communities are, I assume, significantly larger than ours, FD won't want to brass them off any time soon. Better to upset a smaller number about something that was never promised anyway, eh? The other consoles are the money makers, we're just a handy cash generator.
One of my ED add-ons as shown on my PS4 is the "preorder gold paintjob" for the Sidewinder (which ironically has been broken for months), so Frontier indeed should have a record of digital preorders. On the other hand, Frontier's lack of action to fix this missing gold paintjob (or am I the only one?) is telling... In other words, I seriously doubt we will get CM4 - if Frontier isn't going to fix what was promised us, they are not going to give us something that wasn't.
But then again, I just don't care anymore
More proof that the PS4 community is the 'poor relation'? Other evidence, for those of is that care about such things [big grin], is the lack of trophies with some of the updates despite Xpox getting achievements. I'm prepared to accept this is due to Sony restrictions, but we should at least be told if this is the case.
To be honest, I ain't that bothered about getting the CIV now, but it does bother me when devs don't talk to the community or treat us unfairly. The latter might be a matter of opinion, perhaps, but it would be good to have some feedback.But then again, I just don't care anymore
Shame that the latest news on the Beyond - chapter 2 release news on the 28th June (1 year on from the release of Elite on a Console that doesn’t have access to the Cobra mkIV) that there isn’t any news of the Cobra mkIV being made available

Hmmm maybe we should contact Eurogamer? As one of their guys likes ED apparently, maybe a new proper news articles may get traction
