IMO Xbox party works much better and across multiple devices.
It seems a bit odd to see Discord and more frustrating has been the experiences as an insider and as an ambassador trying to remember yet another log in and get on PC for it vs staying in my Xbox one.

I stuck with Xbox live chat until my subscription ran out after a year on PC since it was familiar and I had a few friends still on Xbox. I also found that the majority of PC gamers used Discord making Xbox live party fairly useless.
I would suggest it's a pre-emptive move by Discord (possibly) toward support for more cross platform play since Discord is universally used by the majority of PC players and groups taking over from the platform specific Teamspeak.... not just for E-D of course, but across the board in game terms. Having an option to Xbox live chat directly linked to your Xbox live account... to a more widely used cross platform medium... can't be a bad thing in the end.

what I’ll say is this....if you’re on a PC then sure.

I personally have both and i uninstalled Discord as I just don’t like it and it’s too clunky compared to PC Xbox app and Xbox one party chat as well as using Xbox app on my iPhone joining party chat seemlessly
Team speak, Discord, etc are really just not for me
Which is fine if you don't want to talk to PC players playing the same game in the (possible) future
There's no way you'll convince any of them to pay a £40 annual sub to Microsoft just to use a general chat service we already have for free...

Why would i be talking to people who are exclusively on PC anyways?
maybe I’m misinterpreting but you’re posting in the Xbox section. I own the game on both but your location of the thread suggest it’s about Xbox players having access to Discord....so they’d already have Xbox party chat access

a) It's Xbox specific...maybe news to you...but many Xbox players and E-D player groups on Xbox use Discord via the mobile app/Laptop/spare PC already..
b) I played on Xbox for a number of years and don't feel the need to appear all PC Master Race in a sub forum I've posted in for 3 years already...
If you have a particular beef about cross platform freeform discussion, dislike PC players 'just because' or equally... don't like Discord...all fine with me...but don't shoot the messenger

A. Yes it is Xbox specific. It’s not news to me as I’ve been using it for over two weeks and don’t like it which is why I asked why would I being interacting with someone who only plays PC games. That no longer makes it Xbox related so that’s why I commented regarding where you posted. Your sig identified you play on Xbox and PC

there no beef but consider you’re posting in an Xbox section but commented about talking with people on Discord who aren’t on Xbox cause they’d have to pay for Xbox live gold to use the party app....and I don’t even think that’s valid
There are people playing WoW using the Xbox app on win10 so to my point if they are on Xbox it makes sense but to me, it doesn’t make sense to move to another app to interact with folks not on Xbox.
It also isn’t user friendly IMO compared to the Xbox party for win20 and Xbox gaming on Xbox play anywhere or Xbox titles. I play PC only titles but that’s really outside of this forum type stuff
To my comment I prefer the Xbox party app because I’m interested in communicating live with Xbox players not PC only.
I fail to see how anything was taken otherwise

Nope... I simply posted an Xbox related topic stating that discord will be released as a supported app on Xbox on the Xbox sub forum... You chimed in with the "I don't like Discord" thing and it spiralled a bit downhill from there...
To be honest, this thread has become a bit like the Twilight zone...I'm off back to DD where it's noisy and uncouth but at least as a PC player, I can at least feel slightly welcome...

I would actually agree with blacksmurf on principle...I dont use discord either and see very little point in starting when we already have a perfectly functioning chat interface that doesnt require another pc or laptop running alongside the console.
I got no issues with cross platform, but I also dont see why I need to bend over backwards to use what is essentially a pc chat interface. Thats actually the reason why I avoid groups on console...they insist on using discord which just aint gonna happen...thats fer me personally. The master race dont even want us here, why would I wanna talk to them outside this forum at all?

Discord will be very useful for communicating with friends who can't use an Xbox app. I already use it for Nintendo Switch.

Are you confusing Discord with something else? I use Discord on my phone to talk with several groups. It's more akin to Messenger or WhatsApp group chat than a PC program
There's apps on all platforms for Discord...it's a VOIP option on most of them...not only chat. It is really full featured for the PC app.

I know what discord is, I used it before when I played on pc. Sitting tapping out messages on the phone while trying to actually play the game...sorry but I only got two hands. If I gotta put the controller down to type a message, then I got next to no interest in using it. Gimme a private group on the xbone and plug a mic in and we can natter away...no need to stop playing the game at all or have phones or laptops as well as a console.
Its cool fer those who put up with it...fair play to them...but theres a reason I put my phone on silent when I start up the game...cos to use it, I have to put the controller down and stop playing.
By all means, if I can use it and play at the same time, then happy days...anything that requires me to put the controller down and stop playing to send a text message, less happy. Doesnt really get any more complicated than that fer me ^
Isn't this tie in just going to show what game your playing on your discord profile when you connect accounts?
Could well be. I haven't had a chance to chat with any Xbox insiders to find out...
I know it already does that on PC...kinda like the Xbox live app does on Xbox.
