The BGS Red Herring

I see many comments about players doing their BGS activities in PG / Solo in the same way as PP.
This is a massive red herring.

PP is something you choose to do.
You impact the BGS whether you are trying or not.

Every PvE action impacts the BGS.
PvP combat specifically does not.

The BGS is the accumulated effect of everything every player does.
You cannot opt out of the BGS.
Removing it from PvE modes is no more viable than removing thrusters.

Does something elude me?
I thought the whole Open-only idea was just PP.
If they want to put the whole BGS behind a fence, they might as well close the shop.

Agreed. Which is also why I've specifically pointed out that I support the change of the PP being moved to Open, yet it won't suddenly "quiet the voices" of the minority extremists who think such a move would ultimately lead to the BGS and the entire game being made "Open-only". I say have PP and have "fun" as you so desire it. (and good luck)

Ultimately we're going to just see more of the same demands as we've seen since the game's release with people wanting EVE-in-cockpits.

I thought they already said it is PP only up for consideration so those that argue for Open BGS do so pointlessly already.
No need to counter their arguements.

Well yes, except...

All modes are equally valid ways to play the game, except multiplayer content where solo is obviously not a valid mode.

And PP was never specifically introduced as multiplayer content, yet some complained that since they couldn't see, let alone shoot the players opposing them it should be moved to open only, something that was considered a pointless / futile argument based upon the statements up to that time from FD. They probably still won't be able to see, let alone shoot all the opposition, but that's incidental at this point. And despite assurances over time that all modes are still valid ways to play the game, FD is proposing to make solo (and PG) modes invalid ways to engage in PP.

So I think it's reasonable to counter even the most outlandish arguments, statements and pointless suggestions. Certainly when a small subset of players make them, and even when it's FD that make them... :D

So it is another platform to say the proposed power play changes for from the devil whilst pretending to take about the BGS, as all you did was talk about PP there, and why you think the proposed changes won't change anything.

Have fun.

If you choose not to decide you've still made a choice.

Stand silent if you wish. I can guarantee you your adversaries are not standing silent.

Not really. You said there was no need to counter arguments that you consider pointless.

The arguments to make PP open only would have been considered pointless a week ago as all modes are considered (by FD) equally valid ways to play the game. Yet this week they seem to be not quite so pointless.
