Open - A very brief tale from Shinrata

This isn't a whinge thread (because I always fly with plenty of rebuys and it's just a game). It's a friendly warning.
All this talk of Open being cuddly and not full of idiots I decided to give it a whirl.
I'm in A rated Corvette, 7A shield + 5 A shield boosters. No cargo.
Went to Shinrata, immediately interdicted. No comms. Tried running. 4 more ships jump in, open fire. Insta death.
FSD sniped before it even cooled down.

Yeah don't believe the hype.

Just a quick edit - internet connectivity was crap. Ships jumping around all over the place so there was no way to target.
Third edit - some people seem to think the post implies all of open - that was not my intention hence the title has been altered.

Wha...?
After all these “Open is AWESOME!!!!” threads I am shocked!
No. Just joking. My experiences have also been generally, almost exclusively, negative.

Yeah, some of these days....

To be honest, it can be quite the opposite as well. Like flying with the Hutton Truckers.. awesome guys!

I've had both very good and very bad experiences in open. It's just a matter of who you'll meet I guess..
My advice: if/when wings actually work.. team up. It discourages griefers.

Bad luck for you, we were there with a few commanders tonight and put a full wing of outlaws on the run. They did not come back after. You just jumped in at a bad time.

That was your mistake.
There's only a few areas of the game where this type of stuff is common. This is definitely one of them.

And out of those few areas, only Shinrata is and has always been this way, and will probably always be. Heck, it's the system where virtually everybody is Elite.

They were in 20 minutes ago. I'm posting while experimenting.

I'm thinking it should be permit locked for anyone with notoriety.

Funnily enough no. Just inconvenienced for a couple of minutes.
It was an experiment. As I said, not whinging, just proving a point.

I fly in open all the time.

From my personal experience, your scenario is a rarity. Most of the time, Shinararta is quiet when I'm there and it's my home base.

I usually hunt for "Wanted" commanders with a KWS but most of the time, they are clean.

I'm not sure what you think you're trying to prove. Your post just comes across as whining whether you meant it or not.

Love it, prove a point of Open is poop by going to the founders / elite system. A system that is known to be a gank fest & got ganked.

Point proven, open is poop.

I play in open all the time, never frequent that system and strangely have only had an issue twice in two years, my point also proven.

Absolutely, suspect populated system, switch modes!

Doesn't justify it in my book. Shinrata is a reward for Elite status (or backer in my case). It is now basically Mos Eisley.

Your OP was trying to rebuke the claims that Open is just fine and not a gank fest 99.99% of the time. So as I'm sure any honest person interested in the truth rather than pursuing an agenda would do, you went to the one system everyone knows is the one guaranteed place to find a gank squad. This outcome was 100% not engineered to produce the desired outcome.

I hate sarcasm, but sometimes sarcasm is all dishonesty deserves.

I obviously picked a bad day or time. Tell you what I'll keep trying and report on the results (maybe with a smaller ship, they rebuys are a bit tiresome). As a said, experiment, not whine.
If I can make a run into Jameson, without interdiction, I'll play in open constantly.

Did you submit and attempt a high wake to another system?
