NO - there are not. Actually the JP/JW Velociraptors are based off Achillobator. As they were discovered in 1989, about 1 year before the original Jurassic Park novel was published. While it was not officially named and described until a decade later. Crichton found out about the "giant species of raptor from Mongolia". - thru his paleontologist advisers (like Dr. Bakker, and Horner).

Agreed - two species of tyrannosaurids would be even better. Also I would love to see at least 2 carcharodontosaurids (Acrocanthosaurus ,Giganotosaurus, or Carcharodontosaurus).

I never claimed Chrichton based them on Utahraptors. I just said that they would basically be like Utahraptors, specifically in terms of size and appearance. I thought Chrichton based them off of Deinonychus, calling them Velociraptors because it was synonymous with them at the time. Or is that just fan speculation?

Bear in mind, this game is based on film canon and not novel canon, which film canon is loosely based on.

Deinonychus. JP Raptors are basically Deinonychus on steroids. Back when I was a kid I had a book with pictures and stuff about Velociraptors and Utahraptors. This was covered in the book. Though it was said that Utahraptors were involved it was actually Deinonychus.

It was because at the time in the late 80's early 90's Deinonychus was considered a raptor. I believe it was fixed later on.

Agreed - in the late 1980's and 1990's some paleontologists considered Deinonychus to be a species of Velociraptor.

And yes - if the game goes by movie canon(from the original Jurassic Park) - then the JP Velociraptor is suggested be Deinonychus("Velociraptor" antirrhopus), all be it a slightly enlarged version. However the problem is that Deinonychus is also in the game. So the Cloverly Formation is out of the running for Velociraptor. Yes they could have based the JP/JW Velociraptor on Utahraptor. But I think that is highly doubtful - since Utahraptor is fairly well known, & popular in it's own right.

Also if you look as the size stats for the Velociraptors of JP/JW - they are stated to be about 4-5 meters(13-16.4 feet) long, and about 1.68-1.83 meters(5.5-6 feet) tall. And they are estimated weigh about 150-200 kg.

Another more likely possibility for the dig site for the JP/JW Velociraptor was pointed out in JP3. When Dr. Grant's team was seen working on a "Velociraptor" skeleton near the Fort Peck Lake region of Montana. Also the town were the Kirbys meet with Dr. Grant is in Jordan, Montana. Both Jordan and Fort Peck Lake region of Montana region are basically in the Hell Creek Formation. Which means the JP/JW "Velociraptor" is actually the recently discovered Dakotoraptor. And with of 5 dig sites (Hell Creek, Lance, Laramie, Frenchman, or Scollard) from the late Maastrichtian North America, it could come from any of these.

IF the jP/JW Velociraptor comes from Asia (specifically Mongolia) then it will likely be the Iren Dabasu Formation - which means it would likely be Achillobator. Which would work for novel canon.

Based on actual stats of the JP/JW Velociraptor - the real world Dakotaraptor(from the Hell Creek) or Achillobator(from Mongolia) make the most sense. Both species are estimated to be about 5 meters long and about 1.7-1.8 meters tall.

Surprised by how popular Theri is. I actually really love him, but i never thought so many people knew about him. But still my vote goest to the Giga

I think Therizinosaurus from the Nemegt Formation would be a good species to have in the Park. They are fairly huge (10 meters long, 5-6 tons), but very unusual type of Dinosaur.

Regardless, if we have Utahraptor, we might be looking at the start of a similar situation we have all ready with the Ornithomimids, cookie-cut dinosaurs that become to similar too each other.

I personally want Austroraptor, which is among the largest dromaeosaurs but has a distinctly narrow snout, setting it apart from the others.
