New Things in Pleiades Sector IR-W D1-55

To summarise:

[snip]

That leaves LTT 8517 and Dalfur to defend - LTT 8517 was identified by Eagle Eye, Dalfur was not (similar to Deneb Algedi - maybe the Argestes EE was supposed to
point here?)

LTT 8517 is full of NHSS 3 to 6! It really takes some time to enter all the data into EDMC.

Once you jumped into the system the navigation window shows:

- a convoy emergency signal. If you jump in, you'll meet a huge convoy as if half of the system is fleeing! :O

- a debris field. I jumped in but found nothing but two materials. A bit disappointing. :|

- an emergeny signal without any threat level. Attention! If you jump in, a Medusa which is not hostile says hello, scans you and then continues its business. It is interested in the wrecks of some Clipper and an Imperial Battle Cruiser. Interesting: a lot of container are floating about, all of military origin, some even contain nerve agent! :O So what ought to be transported from where to where?

- a Henry Class Bulk Cargo Ship SOD-164. If you fly there you'll find that this huge ship was attacked for the contents of one single container labelled "VODEL Scarab" only! I looked around and found another two container of this enterprise, all the many other container seemed to be intact. And there was no green slime to be seen on the ship or elsewhere ! So it was not a Thargoid attack!

Question: who is carrying "goods" across the Galaxy which are of interest for Thargoids and someone else? So far, there were two enterprises whose container were attacked: Caine-Massey, Brewer (these two very often) and now Vodel. Ok, it sounds a bit like tinfoil hattery but this happened again and again and it might mean nothing but maybe it becomes more important in the future, who knows? ;)

I visited here last night. First time I've seen so much alien related activity in one of the sieged systems. I don't know what is going on with the imperial fleet at the distress beacon. That one medusa didn't kill all those ships by itself and there are a lot of military plans and intelligence boxes floating around.

I did visit the broken cargo transport but was jumped by some npcs that seemed to be very upset with me being close to the transport. I don't know if this is hummies taking advantage of the war conditions or was just something random. The med ships all left as I dropped in to investigate.

I meant to say this earlier, but I checked the wreck myself and there are three Vodel containers split open and on fire.

This week the EE targets are:

  • EE#1: pleiades sector kh v c2 3 3a
    • LTT 8648 (Wrecked ship at 2 confirmed)
    • Lwalama (startport Gasparis tx confirmed)
  • EE#2: pleiades sector od s b4 1 2a 5a
    • Pleiades Sector PN-T b3-0 (A5 - probably barnacle forest)
    • Lalande 4141 (starport 4A504D tx confirmed)
  • EE#3: HIP 16704
    • julannsa - wrecked megaship confirmed
    • Conn (INRA base Almeida confirmed)
  • EE#4: See EE#1
  • EE#5: See EE#2
  • EE#6: See EE#3

We would expect at least one more target to be found via NHSS. problem is that FD seem to have forgotten to turn on the NHSS in Lalande 4141 / Lwalama, so the other target(s) are impossible to find at the moment. Fixed :)

Edit: updated with latest info

Undiscovered barnacle forest? [edit] Nope, was found October last year, here's the screen shot, taken from the Barnacles Meta spreadsheet in the related thread.

And what's 'starport 4a504d tx' mean?

That is the Star Port Name

Phew! Glad I never said it was undiscovered ;)

Pleiades Sector PN-T b3-0 forest was the second one found (link) but last time Eagle Eye (week 2) was pointing to PS PN-T b3-0, Thargoid Link was bugged and it was not pointing at the forest. It didnt point at any body and we couldnt locate anything in space. Target is still unverified\not found on Canonn EE web.

If it is fixed this week, it is possible there is another forest on some other body since iirc there is a lot of candidates... 5 or 6. Also, lots of normal barnacles found in that system. Both in Ax and Bx bodies. Best see the sheet.

I wonder if there is something in that station name. It's a pretty dull shade of grey in HEX.

4a504d is "JPM" in ASCII, noting "j" != "J" in ASCII so it is deliberately all caps.

My money on the initials of a kickstarter-backer-named station.

Ah ok, makes sense now :), I don't know why he just didn't say so ;).

Just figured on a discussion of converting between binary and ascii that notations like != would be well understood, given some of the crazy lengths that usually get reached to try and solve some puzzles in this neck of the woods :)

Pluse "!=" is much less bytes than "is not equal to". Carrying packets across the Internet is hard work, those packets are heavy!

ee6: dupe of 3

Still need to check Pleiades is a barnacle. Interesting thing is Aegis ships are being targeted for destruction - not sure if we can save them by doing mission from them. Possibly they will be destroyed next week?

Lusonda and HR 1257 are the systems to protect, if you like that kind of thing :D

Ooh nice. A couple of these are new (to me at least) the others seems to still be wandering about the galaxy even though they've already been hit multiple times now (that James Class one has to be the unluckiest ship in the world I've now seen it blown up in 3 systems).

Anyway I know there's been various megaship lists, but I was creating one specifically aimed at the attacked ships to try and see if there were any patterns.
There is. They are all carrying either Thargoid probes, sensors, or stuff like wreckage components. They also all have escape pods. In two cases the messages seem to indicate that at least some of the crew had more knowledge than they were letting on.
Tin foil time - are these ships being deliberately sent out as some sort of bait by "someone", or are they just suspiciously in the wrong place carrying the right stuff? The Bowman message could be interpreted that way

Still need to go back and scan a bunch of the older ones, because I don't have the messages or cargo scans.

Viper*** - do you mind if I swipe your scans for the two that I don't have on the list and add to list here. Wanted to get a few more completed before posting more broadly
