News Bonus Weekend: Trade & Engineering - Now live! (24/05 to 30/05)

Looks like an internal communication issue.

24/05-30/05 timeframe would indicate "Bonus week"
The Image and Text indicates "Bonus weekend"

Guess "weekend" won over "week".

(I was wondering a bit about that when I 1st saw the Announcement but didn't give that Detail too much attention)

Ahh, classic Frontier move... :p

At Broo Tarquins now and he's still asking for grade 5 materials for my burst lasers and now i've run out of what i had for those, thought it was supposed to be a bonus weekend?

Broo Tarquin may be an exception, but my remote engineering still shows the "discount." Actually taking some time away from the Bubble to unlock Palin for his G5 drives...hope to get everything maxed out before G5 mats are needed again!

What? I hope that isn't true. I stripped all my (~10) ships of their shields last night and initiated transfer to Lei (shieldguy) so I can upgrade all of them today after work. I spend more than one hour yesterday to trade down a huge pile of materials I need for that. So what? I wasted tons of G4/5 materials for lower grade material I now don't have any use for?

Thing is this is exactly the kind of worst case scenario I'd expect from FD: You get some - you lose more. And: When in doubt, go with the solution that hurts the players more.

Just checked and it looks like the Discounts are still there, I only looked at some G5 Blueprints though.

I am sitting there at the moment and for Burst lasers there are no G5 materials being asked for in any recipie - max is G4. The only G5 requirements I can see asked for are for some experimental effects.

Holidays when banks closed and financial affairs weren't expected to be carried out just like Good Friday and Christmas day which are technically something else I believe, started legally in the 1870s, in England (Scotland always tried to be different) they include in addition to the aforementioned days, New Years Day, Easter Monday, May Day, Whit Monday, August Bank Holiday Monday and Boxing Day. Except for Boxing Day and New Years Day they are all Mondays the Monday coming being Whit Monday.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for answering that piece of trivia. I'm assuming May Bank Holiday is scheduled on the last Monday in May. Over here, we call it Memorial Day. Except for the parades, flags, and barbecues, it pretty much boils down to the same thing; closed banks. ;) It almost seems like banks of the past, hired Hallmark Greeting Cards to dream up holidays for them to take off. Most get gravy hours in the US too.

What ever the holiday name, hope yours was better than mine. Temps hit 92 F here, a little over 33 C. I began some home renovations in the morning, and by 4 PM I was half melted.

I used the weekend bonus or week bonus whatever =) a lot. I saved several weeks of gameplay and gathering with this.

Thank you Frontier =)

I can now concentrate over special effects.

(The trade bonus though is a little disappointing but anyway. First time, it cannot be perfect ^^).

Nice bonus time! Engineering was fine, trade was ... not enough to make me want to be a trader - but that's my choice.

Most interesting is : why is this finishing on Wednesday, not the Thursday restart - I wonder if FD has any announcements to make on Tuesday ;)

Was this bonus week/weekend only for people in the UK?

I'm being charged level 5 mats for all upgrades.

Not happy.

Nice that my thrusters that I wanted to engineer during this doesn't register as existing, I can't store/transfer or engineer it with a pinned blueprint. Only today left so my hopes aint high.

Pinned blue prints have never been able to convert a legacy module (pre 3.0) or add an experimental effect.

Finished the engineering for my multipurpose and exploration Conda just a few weeks prior to this bonus weekend... But hope something similar will come soon again, good idea.

The Bonus event ended early. It ended UTC 29th May. I know because I spent the entire weekend on a mega farm for materials to get a whole bunch of engineering done as I had been away from the game for many months. After nearly killing myself through the mega grind, I stayed up throughout the night to try and finally engineer the ships... but before I could do so the event ended. I double checked and it definately states that the event should be ending around 11am UTC on the 30th. I've been up all night and it ended on the 29th. All I've engineered are a few Thruster drives and I'm already out of materials because I was farming mats upto grade 4, not 5. Cannot explain how disapointing this is. I'm ready to drop dead I'm so tired, and it was for nothing. This grind was exactly why I left in the first place lol (facepalm). I give up

Can this be coorobarated?
If this is the case then it needs to be highlighted.
This bonus weekend was poorly thought through, poorly communicated (grade not rank!) and poorly implemented it would seem.

I am posting this at 06:58 UTC on 30th May and all my pinned blueprints are still showing the reduced mat requirements.

(I live in UK.)

Positivity here : this week I managed to fully upgrade from scratch a FGS with a weird but fun build based on canons, rails and missiles, and also topped most of my fleet's FSDs and thursters, and also my traders' shields, and also prepare a bunch of spare shield boosters, and also finalize my Corvette PvE set up, and upgraded to G5 some weapons on other ships... I made a great use of collector limpets during fights, remote engineering, pinned blueprints, material traders...

Thanks FD for this initiative ! Finally, engineering is quite pleasant, I get to pilot my ships to the engineer bases to apply experimental effects, and therefore to plan in before my trip (lesson learnt from moving a FGS with a jump range of 17Ly across the bubble without fuel scoop... not going to do this again soon !)

IMO, these events should occur a few times a year... but not too often or people would wait for those and be frustrated. It's more a cherry on top than an expected and due feature.
