General / Off-Topic I'm opening Pandora's Box! Flying Thargoid ships?!?!

I've been testing out Eve Online's new feature release of the new Triglavian ships that capsuleers will be able to pilot when it launches. The Triglavians are the new alien species being added for CCP's exploration content (Into the Abyss). And that got me to thinking...

Will Elite pilots ever be able to fly a Thargoid ship?

Should we be able to?!

Who would be down for piloting a Thargoid ship?

In Frontier: First Encounters a Thargoid Warship was the reward for completing the Turner's
Quest missions. It is entirely possible that an ED version will show up in the future.

That would be an awesome reward for completing a mission! That's a hell of a lot better than the REP, INF, material/commodity, and credits we usually get, even if locked behind a grind.

Yeah, but the ED team will update these quaint old fashioned 80s game mechanics with new modern mechanics. You'll have to transfer 500 tons of thargoid materials to unlock the thargoid permit. This will expose you to brand new thargoid factions in the permit locked sectors. You will have to rank up to Collaborator with a thargoid power before you get access to the Thargoid interceptor (lucky for you there'll be the scout to enjoy before that!). But you won't be able to buy these with credits; those are meaningless to goids. You'll have to gather the equivalent cost in a variety of elements (some to be revealed in the thargoid expansion).
