Modes Powerplay, Consoles, and Open Only

With the recently proposed open-only change to powerplay Frontier have shown a desire to ensure everyone who is participating can interact with everyone else participating in powerplay. If this change goes through, and it likely will considering the large amount of support both in the feedback thread and from the existing powerplay community, the last major barrier to a unified powerplay experience would be consoles.

Crossplay has been brought up frequently in the past, some console players just want more people to play with, while others worry that the PC crowd would be overly dominant. Technical issues aside, nearly everyone can agree that an option for console players to be able to engage with the larger PC community would be a good thing.

By using a powerplay pledge as a way to opt-in to the PC galaxy Frontier could kill two birds with one stone. This would mean that the only thing stopping powerplayers from interacting is the relatively minor issue of mass-blocking the opposition. In addition, console players that struggle to find CMDRs to fight with/against would be able to utilize the larger PC playerbase.

Frontier, please double down on creating a single mode for powerplay, it would revitalize the game for many community minded players on both PC and Consoles.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but I do think you're looking at this too simply.

"Pledge lets you see PC players". So that means console players don't see their friends who aren't pledged? That's if such a ridiculous idea is even possible.

I'm afraid at some point you have to accept that you have no control over other platforms. This is one of those moments.

Not only would this supply a even MORE equal ground for doing power play ( Defending your area or attacking other powers) but its been done with many other games, and as a console player i not only enjoy the idea of not only have a multitude of more CMDRs to interact with but the different interactions between the platforms. Hardware limits are not a issue in my book as PC already is present with these, while yes everyone has a keyboard, not everyone has high end mouse or keyboard making a huge difference. As Open only PP is ment to help level the power play field out more and make it more fair, go big or go home frontier, Microsoft has brought up many times it wants to support cross play as much as possible, Take them up on it. :)

So just ask your friends to pledge as well. Or don't and everything stays the same. Its up to the player.

You don't own an Xbox, do you?

What you're essentially asking is for console players to be forced to pledge so they can continue playing with friends.

Of course, this dilemma shouldn't be posed to the glorious master race. That would be wrong.

I used to play on Xbox exclusively, up until about 2.5 years ago, not that that's really relevant here.

No one is forced to do anything, and I would imagine groups of friends would agree on whether they want to join the larger server or stay on console only.

And for the many friends who do different things for the most part? You might not see it, but your "idea" will lead to console users being forced to make choices that PC users won't have to.

So essentially a 4th mode

Open PP (pledged only)

Both Sony and Microsoft would have to agree, but in that case, why stop at PP? Why not let all activities in all modes (well, except for Solo obviously) be cross platform them? I don't see why Sony and MS would agree to allow cross platform play for only a small part of the game? Surely they would agree to all or nothing?

To be honest, i thought this thread was going to be about how people who don't pay for PS Plus or whatever its called will be locked out of PP because they don't give money to Sony...

Ha, no,no, no. This time you are wrong Aunty.

I'd love to give Frontier money for working multiplayer game features. But it seems they don't want it.

edit: I'd also pay for working bug free singel-player content. Don't get me wrong. I'd just love to play this game and have the feeling it's not just a demo of something that could be good. For years now, it seems they add demos for features that never get fleshed out and completed.

I'd pay for a finshed game . multiplayer. solo. whatever.

Of course that would be preferable, powerplay just seems like a convenient way for players to be able to opt in.

Mods can you please move this thread back to dangerous discussion or another forum people actually read? This subforum is so dead it should just be deleted.
