a lot of the people in this thread basically telling this guy to get lost leave game etc. show no sort of care about another human being, kind of makes me sad.

I think you don't realise that people are taking the mickey because of the self-importance of the OP.

If they were having to stop playing because of cataracts or macular degeneration or something then people would be offering sympathy, however the conceit of the OP is only worthy of derision.

I dunno why people use "Bye" threads, I guest it is just to wish others well or maybe to make a statement, but every damn time it's the same crappy replies of "giv stuffz" "git guds" "clear off" etc. and yet these repliers want to be taken seriously, I wouldn't give... Nope, no stooping!
Good luck OP, you'll have missed nothing while away! O7

Because if threads like this were taken seriously, they would multiply and the forum would soon be full of them ..... all from people seeking attention, one way or another. The genuine "concerned" threads and "fix this FD" threads would be lost in a sea of self-seeking, unfortunately.

The replies are just a way of lightening the mood in an otherwise somber experience.

I wonder how many games I have stopped playing over the last 30 plus years of gaming. I'd struggle to even guess but I'd say it was easily in the 1000's.

I'll wager a few here has played the X series. I was utterly obsessed by X3 for a while. Lived and breathed it. Then, one day, I played it for the last time. Never touched it again. It happens, no reflection of the quality (or lack of) of X3. One day I'll do the same to Elite. But I won't be posting about it here.

To be fair to Bazmeson the "name in the title" thing might be down to unfamiliarity with the forum, finger trouble, a cut-and-paste disaster or a combination of all three. I notice his galaxy map bug report, now merged into another thread, also has his forum name as the title.

And it's not as though we haven't all at some time shared the frustration of seeing this potentially phenomenal game reduced to mediocrity by seemingly nutty design decisions or glacially slow bug fixes.

But the tone of the OP, seen all too often on these forums, certainly invites a degree of snark. In combination with the name thing, it's just too rich a seam not to mine.

Love that 'no one cares' about the content of the opening post but the thread is now a number of pages long.

I find it delicious that all the people that don't care and have no time for such "I'm leaving" posts still have to come along to tell the OP this.

I think you're getting this all backwards. People DO care, and DO have time, and that's why we post.

If the game isn't fixed in June, Bazmeson and his friend (who have both been here since the beginning, I might add, making them seasoned players of some esteem) will leave, and clearly we don't want that.

Sure, we may each have our own way of expressing our concerns. Some are straightforward, some break the tension with humor, some try to use reverse psychology, and some even deny we care at all, but that's only because we care so much and don't want to be emotionally hurt. Again.

See how caring and compassionate we really are?

Hell yeah.

I am sorry to say this but my friend and who have both played elite since it very first started will no longerplay this wonderful game if it isn't fixed in June.
We have talked at length about this and this our conclusion.

Regards
Cmdr Bazmeson

What time do you need it fixed for?

Oh... OK!

I can say you that the 1400+ hours I've clocked in ED up to now are but peanuts compared to the hours I must have spent between X2, X3-TC-AP and XR (only 489 in the last, but you know smaller game, years pass by, RL and adulting stuff)...I'm lucky all that was from a pre-Steam era, or the number could be worrying/embarassing. :)

Yet one day as you said, I simply closed my X3 play session never to load it again. Never made a fuss about it on their forum. Oh well, I also moderate them so maybe that could have been quite inappropriate from me, but still. :D

Anyway, absolutely no hard feeling from me to cmdr Bazmeson, whatever his reason to leave or not the game and the way he exposed them, it's his choice and one's free to do what he wants of his time, we're still talking about a game with pretend spaceship pilots, nothing to get a headache about.
Yet the way he exposed his reasons, you just couldn't miss such an occasion for some tongue-in-cheek reply. :p

Be excellent to each other, and he may keep his stuff.

The apologists are reading too deeply into this. It’s just an irresistible opportunity to point and laugh at someone who’s both entitled and astonishingly clueless.

Or he is working on a reverse psychology project for his thesis and is testing how clueless we all are :D

Oh hang on just read through all her other posts (all three), they are all about his game crashing when she opens the galaxy map so Im guessing thats the problem.

Wonder if she has raised a ticket, or perhaps need to upgrade their PC

I would like to know what Zarek Null has to say about Bazmeson's notoriety. It there a challenger for Overlord here?

What Bazmeson failed to disclose is that the discussion he had with his friend actually relates to me.

I communicated to both of them that if they truly believe that I am to become the Overlord of the Galaxy, then they must do something extreme in order to demonstrate the authenticity of their faith in me.

Specifically, I've asked that they leave the Milky Way galaxy entirely, never to return again, in order to prove to everyone how worthy I am of absolute, unquestioning obedience.

And now it seems, they have complied with my command and departed. In doing so, they serve as a shining example of the level of obedience, loyalty and self-sacrifice I expect from every man, woman and child across the galaxy.
