is it true?

I think this need to be sorted. :/ if it is true as if you would put anything to sleep it would wake up at some point

I know the reason is gameplay-related, but one could explain this away by saying... Dinosaurs need a sedative of absurd strength to put them out quickly, and it's required to counteract that with another agent to wake them, else their heart will just outright stop after a certain period of time.

I've always been pretty good at spinning stuff. This is the explanation I'm going with. :)

Then if you tranquilize them you better move them then or they will die. You shouldn't be tranquilizing them for fun anyway and if you do make sure you have them transported to a new spot. Unless you want them dead.

why would you be " tranquilizing them for fun"?

Cause you can. The same reason why people do anything in games. Why would I run head on into a tractor and trailer in GTA 5? Cause I can.

What I really don't understand about you is that not last week when I posted a link containing BIS's video complaining about precisely this and the no sleeping mechanic, you agreed that they were poor design choices. You've now gone back on your own words and created these tortured justifications for them.

It's okay to disagree with frontier about things. The only way we will get the features we want is by asking Frontier for them. Obviously it's Frontiers prerogative to ignore any and all requests, however, they won't be made aware of them if all we do is just happily (or secretly unhappily in some cases) go along with whatever they give us.

It's up to ask for things in a polite and civil manner.

Totally agree. If nothing gets post about thing that could be better then how would Frontiers know? People just think people are complain, when actually people just want the best game :)

You might be on to something here, funnily enough I was thinking something similiar last night. I could be completely wrong here as I am not a chemist or a vet by anymeans, but I think there could be truth in this statement, so feel free to call me out here if I am wrong. I am pretty sure I have watched wildlife programmes where they have sedated large wild animals and they have to administer a drug to reverse the effects of the sedative. Maybe it was just to speed up waking up the animal but am not sure.

Just as a side note and probably nothing, I think all animals have the ability to react badly to sedation, with the more you use sedation the harder it is to wake an animal up. lts probably nothing but I am curious by the 'number of times sedated' stat the dinos seem to have. Is there a negative effect of sedating a dino too many times ?

Oh, they do have such a stat? I hadn't noticed! That's actually really interesting! You might be right in that case. It could be that you get a shorter amount of time to transport them before they die, depending on how many times you've sedated them. Prevents us from just moving everyone around haphazardly, giving us another layer to management simulation by making us decide when it's the right time to put a dinosaur to sleep. It'd make sense IMO.

Apologies but tried my best to attach a screen shot but the forums seem to be a little bit rubbish in that regard and could only apparently attach an image as an URL lmao lol. Either that or both my phone and laptop suck. So this will have to do:

See at about 4:16 mark on the video with the cerato 'Times Tranquillised' under the 'medical' tab.

Huh, and there it is! Interesting! It's entirely possible this is just a stat kept for interest's sake, but if it's a stat they're tracking, it's just as possible it's a variable they use elsewhere in the game. Perhaps our theory has some degree of merit. :)

Is it true if you sedate your dinos and dont no nothing to them, they will just die?

Haha, that actually made me chuckle. I didn't know that one yet. Thanks for the warning. I used to do it quite often in JPOG if one of my carnivores was in rampage mode. So I definitely can't do that if I want it to live. I'm assuming a workaround is to have it picked up by the helicopter and then moved somewhere else, even if that's just next to the same spot.

Your probably more than right its probably just a cool little stat with no impact at all. Maybe if you over tranq a dino there isnt a negative effect on the dino itself but it impacts the visitor rating of the dino. Am really just speculating. :)

Cheers :) wasnt looking to nessesarily place the whole video, I had taken a screenshot of the video with the cerato and wanted the image uploaded for easy vuewing by all. Thanks for your help :) phone isnt the best thing to use on forums lol

Yeah thats probably going to be the annoying thing about the mechanic. I used to do the same aswell. Shall see how it plays out I guess.

I'm fine with the tranquilizer injuring/killing dinosaurs if they are not woken up again.
What I find flawed is the fact that you are required to move the dinosaur in order for it to wake up.

A solution that would make more sense and make the gameplay more enjoyable is to have a stimulant used to wake up the dino when it is sedated.
You would be pressured to time your sedation correctly in order to displace a dinosaur without injuring it.

There could be a mechanic based on how much you dose a dino, the more tranquilizer you give them the faster they will stop rampaging in your park but you will have to act fast if you don't want it to fall in a coma and die.

IRL you need to administer a antidote right after make anything you do to a sedate (large) animal to help they recover from the sedative. So that mechanic is not that bad and very realist.

I was about to point that out. Did it all the time in JPOG whenever a carnivore starts a rampage, before he could break the fence. So if I prevent a dinosaur from escaping in JWE he's going to die unless I move him for no other reason? That is game breaking.
