supermarket trolleys

ok ..... do any of the other 40 year olds, now fly their supermarket trolleys around supermarkets as though they are piloting an Elite ship ??

the range of trolleys isn't great, you only get the small fighter trolley and the big heavy haulers .. but the physics is the same.

mostly I fly with flight assist on to navigate the aisles, but nothing beats, switching flight assist off as you exit an aisle and rotating around to face the next one, full throttle, a little yaw to keep pointing in the right direction, boost and switch on FA just before you hit the cans of beans.

Docking is great as well .... FA off and punch her sideways through the crowd up to the conveyor belt ... HOOOOOOO RAHHHHHHH

If anyone is in Tesco Bradley Stoke Bristol this evening, I am up for a little PvP ... I'll be in a heavy Anaconda type trolley and shipping large amounts of beer from one end to the other

No, but when I lived in a block of flats with ground floor parking and an automatic garage door, I used to sing The Blue Danube as I approached and drove inside. :D

What do you mean "now" ??? I've never stopped doing that... despite the 'looks' I get off my wife / other shoppers!

Yep, it is the other way around. I always have fun in toying with the drift of a heavily loaded supermarket trolley... Elite just translates this passion into a game... :D

ha ha good fun.
better watch that Lacon nine

I often try to cargo scoop the nicely placed pyramid of tins of beans at full speed. Trouble is the security doesn't give me a chance to go to the checkout to pay for them. Apparently they're not for sale so I was charged with theft and subsequently ejected from the store.

Nice post. :)

If you can make it the Brislington Tesco Extra, you can try and hunt me down. I'll be stealthing it near the drinks section.

Hahaha, awesome!

*grins*

Had to laugh at the mental image of us all flying around supermarkets!

I propose we arrange a meeting in Tesco or ASDA somewhere and do just that, and film it! Let's do it on the ED launch date somewhere in Cambridge. I'm sure there is a supermarket somewhere nearby the FDEV offices :D

Yep, that would be in Milton just over the A14.

lol

Aye, I'm a member of the 40+ Space Trolley Club too.

Just yesterday I was steering my Tesco Type-9 Heavy (laden with enough cat food to feed a medium sized planet of felines) between aisle-loitering Haulers, with barely three inches clearance on either side :D

As long as I can sit in the trolley, so I can feel as though Im in the cockpit. Someone else can do the pushing.

LOL.. I can't believe this is the top discussion in the forums right now. I'm going to enjoy this community :)

Now, if I can figure out how to get mine to s/c without an interdiction...

Made me chuckle - will be trying this in Sainsbury's Newport on Monday evening. Cereal and Frozen aisles are often similar to deep space levels of population so plenty of room for trying exotic FA Off manoeuvres.

Saying that, in Newport the fruit and veg aisle is like that too :D

I do work only 5 minutes from the Bradley Stoke Tescos so will check out any bounties when I pop over in my lunch break... (I deliberately held off from puns on Bounties, other chocolate bars and supermarkets!)
