Receiving contracts with parameters I can't meet yet.

As the title says, I'm receiving contracts with parameters I can't meet yet. I'm currently on Isla Muerta and I just got the "Under the Hood" contract from Isaac. It requires I release an Anklyosaur with Strong Muscle Fibers genome. I can't even get that genome until the Security mission for Isla Sorna is complete. It's quite silly to offer contracts that can't be completed, at no fault to the player. I don't mean to sound rude but it feels like a lot of the silly little issues with the game weren't even QA tested. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and am having fun, but it seems there's always a little thing overlooked.

I'm gradually working on 5-starring the first island before moving on. It can be a little annoying, but just don't accept or cancel the job. Not a huge issue, but yeah, a little annoying.

I am experiencing something like this on the first island, I am being asked to get Crichtonsaurus by two departments but it is not visible in any dig sites.

I have the DLC preorder version and in game I unlocked the second and also sandbox islands and built expedition centres so I have three but the sandbox expedition centre does not contribute to dig sites which is inconsistent with the rest of the game. So effectively I only have two expedition centres.

So I am unable to build storm defence on the second island which is a stormy island, because the first island security main mission requires a Crichtonsaurus fossil and I need to complete this to unlock storm defence.

Maybe it is designed to require you to dot about the islands and forge ahead on one island so you can complete another island, but it is not clear whether it is by design or a mistake.

I am playing on PC and I am still on the first island and I haven't had this issue. I haven't been able to not complete a contract/mission yet. I have Muerta unlocked I am just staying on Matanceros till I unlock Nublar and I might 5 star it.

It does seem that you get contracts based off the islands you've unlocked and not based off the island you're currently working on.

I think Frontier intended that the player move onto the next island as soon as it's unlocked and giving you contracts that require other islands is a way to encourage you to move on.

Just cancel them? It's really no big deal. I imagine the contracts work via some random generator, and so occasionally you're going to get ones before their time. Just cancel them, wait a few minutes, and ask for a new one. Hardly game-breaking. [smile]

The issue here though is that you will get missions/contracts from the other divisions which you can complete. This the upsets the division you cancelled/rejected previous contracts etc... leading to sabotage. It is crazy.

You're not aware that you need to unlock the Crichtonsaurus in the research tree before it appears in dig sites? (same as will all the deluxe dinosaurs)

It's the last unlock for the science division on Matanceros IIRC

And yeah, I had a mission early on before I'd unlocked any other islands that wanted me to research something that required 3 research centres. Declined the contract. There's no penalty for declining from what I can see

Now if I could get a UI update to place guest count and profit per minute along the bottom bar where your overall finance/park rating and divison ratings are that would make deciding whether to take all those "get your park guest count to 3300" or "profit per minute up to 600k" missions or not. So many of those I've cancelled because I had no idea how close or far I was and whether it was worth taking, only to find out I was minutes away and could have done the contract without even trying - just let it tick over

I hope they don't stop after you have completed the game cause I like doing them. I don't care what they are. It's just fun to do it while you wait for a Dino to incubate, research to finish or more fossils from an expedition.

Unlike the Dig Sites, I wouldn't imagine they do as you can request them, those that are already completed (such as having 60% of a genome) would likely just auto-complete, whilst others (such as selling or breeding a Dino) would actually require your attention.

Everything researchable is researched. All Tier 1 dinos are 100%, the resort is 4* and the first science and entz unlock missions are completed. I dont seem to have any avenue to pursue to get the Crichtonsaurus and complete the first sec mission to get the storm defence.

OK rereading with headless chicken mode disabled, I get it now. Thanks for the key info @eddiehead.

I declined a sec mission and an entz mission and they both advanced to Crichtonsaurus missions as the next offering (prematurely it sounds like, perhaps a rushed attempt to enable the DLC) and while I made the first unlock for science I am only about halfway unlocked on that island for science in total and apparently unable to get Crichtonsaurus without completing all the science unlocks while I cannot unlock the first sec unlock because it is blocked by the Crichtonsaurus requirement.

I guess cancelling is the only option. Its not gamebreaking if you know to work around it, which I didnt, as I was expecting it to be doable as an offering from Frontiers missions system and was trying to find a way through within the gameplay... I was not aware of the need to cancel it due this being my first playthrough and its definitely a gameplay blocker with a parameter I can't reasonably meet. I think it is a relevant observation, since that is the thread topic.

You do unlock the Crichtonsaurus on the first island, think a science mission rewarded it as an unlock or you may have to research it..... If you go into park manager - missions/contracts, itll tell you whats available to unlock with each faction and youll see who's missions you need to focus on to achieve it.

Only issue I had on island one before I left at 4.5* was science wanting a modified Draco which I cant achieve until Sorna. Which tbh I think is a cause of sticking it out to 5* so early on, I imagine it was expected people would leave to the next island as it was unlocked. Either way the whole point is to switch back and forth between the islands, changing them up, adding new dinos etc so its completely trivial.

I actually unlocked the Dracorex on Isla Matenceros. Uhm I believe it was the Security mission that I did and to my surprise I had to come up with a 50% ceratosaurus (already had 2 running around so sold one and hatched a new one) and that gave me 1 mil US dollars + Dracorex.

Well I am a bit confused about this but finally found the security mission needed reenabling. This was because I had received a conflict warning when I was offered it, that it would result in ending the existing sec contract so I cancelled it and then ended up with the Crichtonsaurus mission.

I have since cancelled the Crichtonsaurus missions, enabled and completed security main mission, somehow also unlocked Crichtonsaurus but without any related missions.

Its a bit confusing.

The Crichtonsaurus is unlocked with the Science division, it's the 4th main mission in Isla Matenceros. And it's based on the level in the Science Division (I believe it's 2/3 of the bar).
You have main missions on the islands and just random missions. The main missions give you unlocks for Dinosaurs/ Buildings/ Research items. The random missions give you money. Main missions are unlocked based on your rating with one of the divisions and you can request the random missions yourself. Hope this explains it a bit.
