Beyond Good and Evil 2

The first one was an action adventure in the PS2/Gamecube days. Somewhat of an insider tip. The second one has long been rumored and teased starting 10 (!) years ago [1] [2], but has slowly resurfaced since last year and looks like the project was rebootet since. It promises to bring action adventur-ing to space. According to this year's Ubisoft E3 presentation, even cooperatively.

As it seems to be with these large "AAA" space game thingies - no ETA (looking at you, Star Citizen). Thankfully though, it's a game of the evil Ubisoft, so somebody must have an interest in getting it out of the door at some point.

I've been waiting for this game since before it was cancelled :D Absolute eternity ago there was even an in-game sneak-peak, and a cinematic. Then nobody heard anything about it for many years, till 2017.
I'm not too excited about the fact that Ubisoft are in charge, but art style and overall feel are so mad and outlandish that it might come out just right. Really looking forward to it.

Yeah, the latent danger of Ubisoft open world syndrome exists. But it seems unlikely this is going to follow the Far Cry/Assassin's Creed templates too closely, since it's so much more an over the top Scy Fi/Fantasy.

Looks very tasty imo. And while I'm not one for prerendered trailers, these ones are excellent, since they tell a bit of a story each. Helps that they're asbsolutely stunningly made as well.

The days that UBI was considered evil by most are in the past.
UBI really took all the criticism to heart and as opposed to EA they have changed considerably.
Of course they are not perfect (who is?), but they are nowhere near the level of EA.
I used to boycott UBI, but to be honest these days they have become one of my favourite game publishers.

As far as Beyond good and evil 2 is concerned, I am truly stoked for that game. I hope it lives up to the hype.

I think you have a point. Both dev and publisher teams they have under their control were making some decent stuff. Not always...but when it's good, it's good.
R6 became one of the most interesting and complex competitive FPS games as of today. For Honor has some real depth behind it too. FC5 while not to my liking has really changed a formula a bit, thanks to players making jokes about radio towers and such :) Seems like Ubi are quite self aware about their own personal stereotypes, and instead of trying to hide it they try to own up to their mistakes now. I still don't quite like some of the stuff they do, but by no means Ubi are the worst corporation at the moment. There's still some talent, and passion for good games.
I'm still a little bit concerned about this game. Hopefully it will turn out alright.

Agreed. I really like the look and style of this game. Hoping its a good one.

If the trailers are anything to go by they are capturing the feeling of the first game very nicely and adding to it. Amazing stuff that will hopefully survive the Ubisoft typical treatment and really be something special.

Definitely one of my top 3 want now games. Has been for years. The original was an incredible game.

I'm a complete outsider to this franchise. Can you tell me what this game is?

It's not even really a franchise yet. [smile]

The first game you played as a sort of reporter in a distant future where the known worlds are populated by slaves as hybrids of human and animals. Bred to do work the pure humans won't do. All controlled by a faceless benefactor called the "alpha sections". Your character "Jade" a pure breed and her friends mainly hybrids and underground pure types stumble on a plot by the alpha sections and the game surrounds you into getting to the bottom of that.

It's a unique game though I suspect I haven't described as such above and it might sound a little generic. It had a wonderfully gentle way of playing the story and dealt with some quite serious issues really well. It had at times an amazing sense of humour that seems to have been lost these days. The game play was fun and uncomplicated though I suspect it might feel a bit aged these days.

Lovely game. Hope they can do it justice.

The trailers look so good and the gameworld so amazing that it is hard to believe we will actually get what is shown.
If they succeed this game might be something really special.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I'm definitely excited because it still has that offbeat crazy aesthetics, and some of the elements look fun. However, they've strayed so far from what original game was it kinda has to be judged on it's own merit.
