The Star Citizen Thread v8

Oh my.... so they know that 100 systems isn't likely to be a thing on launch (despite the 10 systems at launch, oh no, we never said that, there will be 100 systems at launch), so now they are looking for ways it will be good for Star Citizen that there wont' be 100 systems on launch.

Anyone got that handy chart to post? You know, the one that goes though the stages of gamer life... sounds like we are at the bargaining stage.

"...Would create fun community events of unlocking the new content and we wouldn't be stuck in perpetual beta for <uncertain amount of time>..."

Beta? Did I miss the announcement? I thought they were still in pre-(pre-?)alpha?

CIG likes to play with names, making up new names for old concepts.

They are free to call what they have a Beta...or preAlpha...or Alpha...or anything else they want. And they have.

As far as I am concerned, they don't have a working engine, and they haven't done the fundmental design work, both of which (should, ideally) be carried out before major development of the game takes places (yes, I am aware real life is not so neatly cut and dried, but still...there are standards)

No engine, no design, and a stage of release that is best described as a "Tech Demo" or "Proof of Concept". Leaving aside that CIG are trying to do preAlpha, Alpha, Beta and design work at the same time, and making a pigs ear given the way many game systems and designs interconnect and rely upon each other to work properly, doing design work and working on an engine and having a Tech Demo style release counts as "preAlpha" by my book.

r/starcitizen declares war on r/eve. For us EvE players its just buckets of lulz on a Friday.
Looks like preemptive mass bannings of r/eve members also take place over at r/starcitizen.

Decloak, decloak, decloak, Primary is the Venture Vulture, grief seeker missiles on the Drake. :D:D

Not trying to give him any more attention but did anything come together from DS latest *BREAKING* news regarding SC? I think I remember it was 2 weeks ago or so.....dont suppose he followed up with any actual breaking news?

Just look at all the actual "development" all the way in 3.3

Until they have all that boring brown network stuff working - none of anything else they do is going to matter in the slightest.

Scam Citizen road map. I wonder how much of the stuff in 3.3.0 will be delayed and removed from it.

What I love about these is they show exactly how little work is going into the broken back-end compared to shiny things. All they've managed in this cycle is "Performance optimisation" which went from 2/11 on May 25th to 2/8 on June 5th to "Finished".

It makes me wonder how much actually got done.

Well, he managed to get into a fight with William Shatner about twitter versions...

Pretty much all of the dark brown "core tech" section probably. And the blue section. But it's ok because there will be plenty of new underpants and chariots to make up for it.

That was so Kawaii, I Desuu'ed all over the wall after reading that. :D:cool:

Maybe the dark brown color of the "core tech" is a hint about what the dev think about the whole "core tech". *removes tinfoil hat* ;)

I've got a beautiful rendition of Star Citizen Rhapsody ;)

No - I won't post it :D

A Star Citizen Rhapsody is like a 15 inch , I have to see it to believe it. :D:p

I just tried and played Heliborne,it´s arcade-simish game with helicopters that was made by very small team of 4 devs with tiny budget for less than 2 years......to cut the chase it´s fun little game but more important thing is that even their physics and flight&fight mechanics are so much better that easily put CIG&SC on walk of shame.....

Ah, after they banned a goon for brigading they said they would update their definition of brigading.

Looks like the new definition of brigading is "anyone who posts something we don't like".

Stay classy /r/starcitizen
