There are plenty of other reasons. It's not that all Solo players are in Solo because of the threat of PvP. There are other factors that are part of their decision.Would this entice anyone else back into Open? Edit: Assuming of course that you are interested in player to player interactions at all - if not then there is no reason to not be in Solo![]()
For instance, I just like to play on my own and not have to think of other people that will contact me, disturb me, or interact with me at all. Has nothing to do with the PvP aspect of it, I'm just bugged when I'm not left alone. I'm an introvert, and a bit antisocial. I used to be more outgoing, liking parties, and interacting with strangers on the train, but not anymore. Nowadays, I like to stay home and enjoy my family and a simple life.
And there are other reasons as well. I've noticed that my computer/install of the game is more unstable, more crashes etc, when I playing in Open or PG, and as an explorer 50,000+ LY from Sol, it doesn't matter if I'm in Solo, Open, PvP, EvE online griefing mode, or whatever, or even single user without servers, because I'm alone as it is anyway. The closest person is probably 1000+ LY from here. I'm currently in the 15th newly discovered star system (discovered by me right now) just today.
So essentially the point is, Solo mode is for those who likes to play Solo, and making Open into some attractive mode for Solo player... well, the only way would be to make Open into Solo to do that (which wouldn't make sense now).
Making the game Open-only wouldn't make me play more in Open, it would make me play the game less, regardless of how safe you would make it. It's the reason I never got into EvE online, WoW, and other MMOs. I just don't care for socializing anymore. I barely ever post anything on Facebook either (probably a year ago last).
So, how about now make it attractive for players to play an MMO version of Solitaire?
