So my problem with ED Discovery taking a long time to start appears to be something unique to my PC.
With the help of robbyp, I tried starting with a fresh user database and even a completely new data folder.
But the slow startup continues.
I also copied my data folder to another PC and although it started slower (20 seconds) it was consistent. It's just a slower PC.
It's not consistent on my PC. Sometimes, in the mornings especially, it starts up quickly.
and for some reason, when I access my PC via remote desktop, it starts up consistently in 10 seconds every time, with the same data folder and configuration.
But when I get home from work and re-boot my PC before starting Elite, it goes back to taking 2 minutes or longer to start.
Fortunately I'm already in the process of building a new PC. My current system is a 4770K from 2013 and I was already in the process of ordering parts for a new 8700K system, so I'll be doing a fresh install of Windows 10 soon anyway.
Thanks for the help RobbyP
