The two games I play have dropped off the top 100 on Steam

You're just "going against the flow" ;)

PS.
A short while ago I opted for a Game that was #1 on Steam. Played it for a few hours and then realized it was seriously lacking, just wasn't fun.
So yeah, that can happen.

Everything decays to it's highest state of entropy, including PC games. That's the second law of thermodynamics and it's a fundamental law of the behaviour of the universe. There's no escape from it. It will cause the game to go into complete disarray before fizzling out at some point in the future. Some say that it will happen sooner than others, but the only thing that we can say for sure is that it is an absolute certainty that it will happen.

E D had about 6000 players in steam counts at some time X. Now it is under 3700 (last game on the TOP 100 now).

That means E D lost at least 39% of its players with respect to time X assuming that steam players behave the same as players not using steam.

Jurassic World Evolution has currently 30371 steam players which is about 3 times more than E D ever had.

What does this mean?

If I were FDEV I would concentrate on JWE ;-)
