Commander Name

Hi All,

I've just bought the £50 package from the website and downloaded the game.

I'm a little confused as to where I input a profile/commander name? The process doesn't appear to be to clear?

Can anybody offer up any advice?

Do you know if there is, or will be, a limit on how many times (or how often) we can adjust our commander name? Is it likely to be 'set in stone' after launch?

Ive had 3 so far and probably wont be the last. I just cant settle on a name. All the good names I thought up were taken :)

I had this problem as well because every name that I thought of was either taken or far too rude and Frontier wouldn't allow it ;) One good thing though is that your in game name and your name on the forum can be different. I'm glad about that since I wish I'd given my forum name a bit more thought because I think its pretty boring.

yeah, me too. You cant have 3 character CMDR names.

Or 4s either. Which is a lot of the rude ones out :)

I got Hal Starlord at the minute. I will be hating that come Sunday afternoon.

I wouldnt mind a randomly generated space themed name.

Actually I dont. I thought I got a warning saying it must be at least 6 letters but I just tried it there and it doesnt seem too. I'm not certain as the name I chose was already considered taken. I dunno. I must of dreamed it.

I tried commander S it it said taken. So maybe.

My commander name has 2 letters.

Not true as mine is the same name as on this forum :)

I gave up my Commander Stu name which I secured from the backer name request that I had for my other account as my son has another name and I decided to stay with my Alpha account.
I've since seen Commander Stu flying around.

Possible first discovery of a parallel universe, maybe. Maybe it was a future you who had discovered time travel. The effects of a black hole. If you fly at supercruise for so long in the same direction will you eventually meet yourself on the other side.

Or maybe this proves you can take up a name that was once taken, so really its worth to keep trying for a name you really want incase it becomes available again.
